What is the size of the cooking surface

256 Sq in. I found it had more than enough room for cooking for 2 .easily could have done 4 10-12 Oz ribeyes and probably 6- 1/2 lb hamburgers. It did everything I asked of it.

Can I use it just as a grill and without using pellets?

It is for wood pellets only. They are the only source of fire. The electrical part is for the blower and to start the wood pellets.

Can you use it on 12 volts
