Each kilo newton is 224.81 lb so with a 15-1 safety factor a 50 kn device can hold 11,240.44 lb total, that is 749 lb of load. A kernmantle rope can hold as much as 9000 lb And a 24 kn carabiner (read its rating and safety factor) can hold 5395.41 lb. So Remember you are as strong as your weakest link. Read all before you hang on a rope.

It is made of aluminum. It appears to be very durable, but I haven’t used it yet. I also need it to be safe.

It is NOT UIAA rated. I returned mine. It is also big and heavy when compared to the Black Diamond figure 8, which sells for about the same price, is UIAA rated and is smaller & lighter.
