Q: Is the handle plain, or does it have "opinel" written on it?

The wooden portion of the handle does not have "opinel" engraved on it, but the stainless steel (on my knife) piece that locks the blade open or closed does have and size of the knife & "Made in France". The blade is the only part of the knife that actually has "Opinel" noted.

Q: Do these knives come with the Opinel name engraved on the handle, or is it blank?

Not blank, but stenciled on with black paint on top of the clear varnish. I had one 40-50 years ago that had the Opinel name branded into the wood. Don't when they changed.Pat
