Doubling down the protein on my morning smoothie!
I’ve been drinking Slate for a few years now. I love my morning smoothie (Slate, banana, walnuts, almonds, peanut butter powder, chia seeds, oats, organic green powder and ice) - it is one of the best parts of my day. I’m trying to add protein (and extra workouts) as I get older so this 42g is a welcome addition!!!

Good texture and mouth-feel, but the flavor doesn't really taste like vanilla at all
These aren’t bad at all. The mouth-feel is pleasant, nothing weird going on there. These are loaded with protein, of course, but they are also high in calcium and a fair bit of some other nutrients. They are a bit higher in sodium than I’d prefer. However, what my cans say and what the listing shows the cans saying are different when it comes to sodium. The listing shows the cans having 430mg of sodium, but my cans show 360mg of sodium. I’m not sure how that has happened. Not only do I like a lot of what is in here, I do like that this doesn’t contain erythritol.Aside from the sodium content, the one other issue I have is flavor. You’ll notice that the ingredient list does not include vanilla as an ingredient. In my opinion, these do not really have a vanilla flavor at all. They have a flavor, and it’s not an unpleasant flavor, but it’s not really vanilla, and while it’s not unpleasant, I don’t think I’m that big of a fan of it either. However, I can add some vanilla flavor to it, which vastly improves the taste for me, so it’s not too much a problem for me.

Slate Milk Yum
Slate milk is the best to begin with, but now this protein content is insane. Goodbye fair life and Corepower, hello Slate

Damaged and NOT returning!
I had more damaged and leaking cans than usable cans. The inside box was soaked and smelled like dead fish. I tossed the cans in the trash because they smelled rancid.

Vanilla's more like caramelized condensed milk
Here's an ultra high protein milk. I picked vanilla, because vanilla's a lot harder to make taste good than chocolate. And boy am I pleased. It's not quite vanilla, but rather a caramelized condensed milk. It reminds me of a tres leches cake. This protein milk has roughly the same amount of calories as if you poured in 15 oz of milk, but has a lot more protein. A good part about this stuff is that it drinks like milk; protein shakes usually have that thickness that isn't very enjoyable when thirsty after a bit of exercise. I'd say this milk is pretty good for all that protein, and certainty tastes better than other comparable shelf stable milks.

Not For Me-Thick, Chalky, Little Chocolate Flavor & Damaged Cans
I recently ordered the chocolate flavored high protein shakes. I recently had a tooth extracted which limits the ability to eat. I needed something that I could drink to replace meals. I'm not a big fan. The cans were damaged but there wasn't any leaking. You're supposed to shake and open gently which I did. I poured mine in a glass because I don't like drinking from aluminum cans. It looked and smelled okay. I took a small sip and waited a moment before taking a real drink. I was hoping for a more chocolate milk thickness but this was thicker. It has the chalky taste or the taste of chocolate flavored powder. It reminds me of generic chocolate milk powder I drank as a child. It definitely needs more actual chocolate flavoring. My tongue has a weird taste after waiting a bit to take another sip. I didn't notice any GI issues. Because of the thickness, and chalky taste, I couldn't drink even a quarter of this.At almost $4 a can (at time of review), I would pass on this.

Larger can, stevia aftertaste.
This is not higher density protein, just a larger can. Most protein drinks are 11 oz @ 30 grams protein, these are 15 oz cans at 42 grams protein, which works out to 2.72 vs 2.8 grams per oz. The drink has Stevia in it and leaves that weird aftertaste of the sweetener. The vanilla shake flavor is good and the drink at 15 oz leaves alot to drink, more than I prefer for my breakfast. They are okay to drink and you get an extra boost of protein.

Fantastic!
I’ve tried a bunch of protein drinks over the years, and I have to say this one is fantastic! The flavor is very much that of chocolate milk, and it doesn’t have a chalky texture or off flavor that sometimes can happen. The protein content is high for the size of the can, too, so props for that! I gave it a subtle shake, but you don’t have to mix powders, which I appreciated it.I’d absolutely recommend these if you need a protein drink that tastes good and isn’t crazy expensive!
