Just the job

This is my favourite mod for my Fender Hot Rod deluxe.Had to replace my power valves due to them slowly dying, and also realised my old 12au7 was microphonic (2yrs old). Swapped back in the old 12ax7 I still had as a spare and instantly found the tone to be very sterile and boring in clean and quite harsh with drive especially at lower volumes, it did however sound good when cranked.Fast forward a couple of weeks and I finally gave in and ordered another 12au7 for the V1 valve slot, and personally it just gives the hot rod deluxe a new lease of life, such a good tone. Fat and round but nicely balanced, works great with drive. Volume is now much easier to turn down low for practice, but can still go loud when cranked up.Reminds me of the more expensive Fender Deluxe tone, very close now!Worth a try for the price!

Replaced a faulty one in my bravo preamp ,and very pleased with the clarity of sound , I was quite surprised how good a valve pre amplifier is . Mine is connected between all sound sources and main amp which is a marantz solid state . You can tell the difference unlike somethings you buy such as dacs , it might be my old ears but I find the dacs in CD players to be perfectly fine without any extra add ons , this preamp being the exception .

After messing about for ages trying to get it to stay in the light socket I managed it with a bit of tape, not very bright but I'm getting slightly weird musical sounds around my house now ...... Spooky

Good product, however Amazon packaging was sparce and valve could have easily been broken

Perfect for what I needed. Put this in my Fender Hotrox Preamp to give me a warmer sound. It allows me to run the amp much lower volumes for practice as it removes that dreaded volume jump between 0-1 on the amp. Volume now glides up gradually. Perfect! Quick delivery
