My son wants to collect mini katanas so I bought him his first one for xmas. He loves it! We let him open our mail with it so he can use it for something, haha. Seems well made and looks great! Super cool!

I absolutely love this letter opener. As a fan of Samurai movies and the Highlander movies and TV series, this is a wonderful homage to them. It is very realistic in detail, including the classically irregular hamon edge line and the wrapping on the scabbard.It is well built, a great size, and is sharp enough but not overly sharp to be dangerous. It's easy to use and a great value, too!

While it does function as a letter opener (it works!), I admit to being partial to using a longer and sturdier opener.Visually, the product looks as it does in the product photos: it looks nice. Upon closer inspection, however, it's quite clear that the stand and sheath are plastic. While it would have certainly increased the cost, having these parts made of wood would have truly elevated the look and feel of this set.The metal blade is sharp enough to open letters, but you most likely won't cut your finger touching the blade. However, I wouldn't advise placing this in reach of small children!For fans of Japanese culture, Anime, or Samurai history, this would made a delightful gift.
