These are great for taking food on the go. I do a lot of motorcycling and like a hot meal. These bags are pleated at the bottom so they don't tip over easily, which is good when one is pouring boiling water into them! They are very thick, seem high quality. All the oxygen absorbers have worked so far too.

I recently bought these to put freeze dried meals in. I am using them as single serving size so when I want something different for dinner while camping than my husband, that will be no problem.. They seal nicely. They are thick enough that I don't feel that they will tear open so they are durable. The quality is very nice.

A bit smaller than I usually get.

The bags seal well and I love that the bottom gets flatter. Makes me feel like I have more space for food.

For all you backpackers, each of MRE bags weighed in at 21g. I counted. All 50 were there. The oxygen absorbers are between 4 and 5 g each. Working wise, these MRE Mylar Bags are of similar size to the newer mountain house 2 serving chicken & dumplings. I mention this because they both fit in my insulated hydration food cozy nicely which may give you a sizing gauge. The zip lock is a bit higher on the MRE bags, so they have a smidgen more inside volume. Also, the MRE are shorter where there is less tear off length above the ziplock. That means there is 1” for your vacuum/heat sealer to work with, and only 11/16” above the tear notch. I think any weight savings on size here is a wash when you consider the oxygen absorbers. Note, the oxygen absorbers get hard pretty quickly once you open one of those little packs. Putting them in a zip lock doesn't really help much.These stand up well on their own for loading. I filled one up with some dansom plums I dried this month. I am confident they will be tasty when I break into them later this winter or spring.

Countedto to check that in the package came 50 mylar bag a per description but was 1 bag short. Counted 3 x hopefully when I open the oxygen absorbers there will be 50.
