Useful Tool
I have several Duratech tools and generally like them. They usually are sturdy and well built with useful and unique features. This multifunction hole punch follows a similar pattern as it is sturdy, with thick chrome-plated steel and comfortable plastic-coated handles which provide a good grip and excellent leverage. With its rotating punches of six different sizes and corresponding bottom plate, the tool takes the place of six different punches of different sizes. Once you decipher the instructions and experiment with the tool a bit, you find that it is relatively easy to use and that it punches clean holes. So, all good there. My only complaints about the tool are found in the handle section below the actual hole-punching mechanism. The tool comes with an Allen wrench which is used to adjust the bottom plate. The head of the little Allen wrench fits into a hole in the handle and the long shaft fits between three opposing rubber tabs in the handle. Duratech obviously realizes that this isn’t a very secure way to store the Allen wrench because the tool was shipped with a rubber band to hold the wrench in place. This isn’t a serious design flaw, but it will be an irritating one if the wrench falls off and isn’t with the punch when you need it.The second issue is the spring that pushes the handles apart and provides needed tension for punching holes. This has been a busy time for me, and it’s taken several weeks for me to get around to reviewing the punch. In the meantime, the tool has been moved around a bit—mostly by the wife to get it out of the way—and during one of these moves, the spring fell out and disappeared. This didn’t happen during heavy use, only in the course of moving the tool around a bit. Fortunately, I had a spare spring from a pair of pruning shears (pictured) which I was able to adapt to fit the punch, and it works fairly well. Still, this is a flaw that needs to be fixed for the tool to earn a 5th star.

Clean cuts through thicker leather
My partner's a blacksmith who makes his own leather sheaths for tools, knifes, kitchen implements and the like. His focus is on metalsmithing, not leather-working, so he's tended to purchase less expensive leatherworking tools. That means he sometimes has a harder time with the leather. For example, his old hole punch cut holes reasonably accurately, but needed extra force to get through thicker leather and left a circle impression on the leather from the cutter stop. This hole punch is a definite upgrade; it cuts more easily, and it doesn't leave that unsightly blemish when making a hole. It's a great, relatively inexpensive upgrade from standard hole punches.

Many features but ease of use suffers
Great for multiple holes, doesn’t clog but requires changing the back plate with each size change. Pops out of actuating arm unless I hold it together with my second hand as I squeeze the lever. Should probably return it but I did use it for about a dozen belts.

Works Great
This punch is quite precise and easy to use and far better than a mallet and punch and die. I feel like the mechanical advantage could be improved, but perhaps the design will keep the blade sharper longer. I don't know how long it's supposed to last, but it seems good for years of use.

A quality tool that works well. Only issue was two holes sizes on soft leather.
I was so excited to get this hole punch tool. I'd been borrowing my neighbor's typical style hole punch and then we both moved and I no longer had access to one. I am familiar with how one works. Once you understand and get the hang of using this hole punch, it's easy to operate. The tool feels well made and works great. The hex wrench stores right on the tool and it's needed to loosen and rotate the bottom plate each time you change sizes. Love that the debris from the punch falls right out of the tool. With the handles fully open it's a stretch, but the spring action makes the handles easy to squeeze. A locking mechanism to keep the handles together when not in use would be a nice added feature. The first punch was on a very thick piece of leather using the 4.5mm hole. And, it worked perfectly. I then read the directions and started punching holes in other materials such as cardstock, corrugated cardboard, plastic, and 0.3mm copper which were all successful. The punch did leave a burr on the backside of the copper holes that has to be sanded smooth, but that's typical with most hole punches on metal.I ran through all the hole sizes with no issues. Then, I grabbed a thin piece of soft leather and did the same. Every hole except for 3mm and 4mm worked on the soft leather. Even when I start with the bottom plate and cutter lined up perfectly, the 3mm and 4mm holes end up offset and unable to punch through. This is the only reason I eliminated one star from the rating. The other hole sizes, however, worked great on the soft leather. I can always use a larger or smaller size in that scenario so it's not a deal breaker for me especially since my primary use isn't leather.Images show holes on 0.3mm copper sheet, black cardstock, and soft brown leather which is what had the issues. All in all, I'm super stoked with this hole punch and it feels like a quality tool that will last for years!

How to assemble the tool so it works
The "operating instructions" are TERRIBLE !

Good quality for occasional domestic use.
It doesn't take a lot of force to cut through the leather which surprised me.I assume the length of this tool's usefulness depends on how long the punches keep their sharpness as everything else about it feels sturdy enough.
