CASTS A MILE
I've been eyeing 13 fishing reels for a while and I loved this color on the Origin TX, however, I heard that this reel was just releasing so I bought it and WOW! This reel is amazing. It casts so far even on the 1-2 settings for magentic braking even while using lighter lures (and I use 15 lb braid). I've used it aleady to catch a monster catfish, by accident, and lots of strong bass so far with no issues. Compared to my last reel, this reel uses a little bit more power on reeling (less smooth I guess?) but that's my only con. I haven't been saltwater fishing with it, but it is such a beautiful reel for only $100!! This is my 3rd baitcaster after a Lew's American Hero and Profishiency Krazy Reel, and so far it surpasses them in quality. Since I don't have any crazy expensive reels, take what I say with a grain of salt as I still am a young amateur fisherman.I will say if you love this color: GET THIS REEL!

This reel lacks.
I had very high expectations for this reel and was trying to branch out from my normal casting reels. I’ve purchased a few of the rods made by this company and was very satisfied but for the price of this reel it falls short. 100$ is a pretty inexpensive caring reel but with other good quality reels like the revos and Mach 1 I would recommend fishing 13 rods but this reel I would find another in the price range. Im not ruling the company out as they have very nice stuff just a bit disappointed with this one.

My new favorite $100-ish reel. What a bargain!
For several years now I have touted the Daiwa CG80 as the best reel you can buy for around $100, but I have to say...this TX2 is better. Both reels feature an aluminum body and ported spool, come in around 7.2 oz, and cast like a dream - but the TX2 has a slightly more capable drag, cork grips, larger line capacity, and a very thoughtful hook keeper that keeps the reel from getting scratched up. Another bonus, compared to other reel in its class, is that the side plate stays attached when adjusting the brake. While the side plate takes some getting used to as it's a little tricky to break down and put back together - it does function very well and keep you from dropping the plate.I tested this reel on a 6' MH rod with a 3/8 oz rattle trap. I set the break to the middle (3) and really loosened the tension. Even with a decent 8 mph headwind I could chuck this lure a mile without any backlash at all.I highly recommend this reel!

Excellent reel, but needs quality control
I've used this reel for rivers, lakes, and inshore fishing. It's very smooth and I'm able to cast out way farther than with my Pflueger President 3500 spinning reel. Upon first use, I noticed a somewhat gritty sound/feel when reeling in so I oiled the inner parts of the reel with bicycle lubricant, which seemed to have fixed the gritty sound/feel. I did have to play around with the tension knob to get a perfect cast. My gf tried using this reel and kept getting the line tangled (bird nesting). I tightened the tension knob and now no more tangles (but also the casts aren't as smooth).

13 fishing is an awesome brand. Not only is the quality of their work phenomenal, but their gear is beautiful too. This is a work of are. It spins smoothly for both catch and release. With 18lbs of drag you can pull in most any freshwater fish out there and be fine. Plus the 7.3:1 makes quick work of the reeling.
