Absolute beginner with broken high E on acoustic guitar - would these be a good replacement?

Short answer - Yes. Longer answer - acoustic guitars with steel core strings usually have slightly heavier, i.e. thicker, strings than do electric guitars. Typically, you would have a a 0.012" (or thicker) diameter string for the high (pitch) E string on an acoustic guitar. If your acoustic guitar has 'gut' (some kind of plastic) strings, it is not wise to put steel core strings on it. If you know nothing about guitars, I would advise buying a book or get an introductory lesson from a tutor. HTH. Don't trust a word I say. Don't sue me.
