2008 two disc (CD + PAL/Region 0 DVD) edition of the '80s superstars' 'best of' collection including a bonus DVD that compiles their best videos in one place. Spandau Ballet grew out of the same New Romantic scene that spawned Duran Duran and, for awhile, the two bands had a playful rivalry that was similar to the Beatles and Rolling Stones rivalry two decades earlier. By the mid '80s, Spandau had transformed themselves into a well oiled Pop/Soul machine with hits like 'True', 'Gold', 'Only When You Leave' and others. This collection brings together their biggest hits and videos and is sure to please long-time fans....and it's bound to get those Duran boys riled up again! EMI.

The cd mostly has their hit songs in the 80’s. Nicely produced and very clear.

Finally, a collection of the long lost music video gems on DVD!!!
The original release of this CD (sans DVD) was around 2000/2001. I refrained from buying it due to the fact that I own every SB studio album ever released (on vinyl, 4-track cassette and CD's), The Singles Collection, 12-Inch Mixes, the 3-disc Anthology, plus a few odd and ends compilations by other European companies like Disky. I also own two live performances DVD's (SB Gold and Live at the NEC),but I was always searching for their classic music videos for ages...until NOW!!! Finally! Thank you!So, I guess I was destined to own this after all...lol. Although a stand alone DVD would have been nice, I'm not complaining. It's worth it if you're a SB fan. (Now I can finally retire the Betamax tapes that I've been keeping all these years, and I don't even have a Beta deck.) Thanks for the memories and thanks for putting out this product.

Wondering who wrote the liner notes
This is a fine collection containing the first 17 of the group's 20 (to date) British chart hits. Four of those made the U.S. chart in 1983-84: the beautiful "True" (#4), "Gold" (#29), "Communication" (#59), and "Only When You Leave" (#34). Other standouts include the more hard-edged new wave/dance (U.K.) hits "To Cut a Long Story Short" and "Chant No. 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure On)".One oddity: I scanned the booklet four times and am quite sure that the author of the liner notes is not acknowledged. This would be less of a deal if he didn't refer to himself in the text as actually taking credit for coming up with the band's name ("A name and a platform were now needed. I, as an aspiring man of words, provided the moniker.") I'm surprised none of the other reviewers mentioned this.This looks like the best Spandau hits disc out there. Recommended to fans of Duran Duran and ABC.

Good as gold quality. Very nice cd case and nicely wrapped in plastic. Music quality amazing. Like buying it off the rack without the flimsy plastic wrap. 👍👍

Spandau Ballet is Pure GOLD
Spandau Ballet's album `Gold' is really all that! Gold has all the great tracks from the 80's & 90's. When I first opened the album I was thrilled to see a six page cover insert with photos of the Spandau gang from their early teen years and an intriguing band biography. The tracks `Gold' and `True' are my favorite tracks because they have a smooth glowing glam-pop sound bursting with Kemp's retro-whining vocal style (which is indicative of the early 80's). The sound and mood of 'Gold' is similar to that of some of the tracks on (My Friends Left Me for Dead). If you are a Spandau Ballet fan, this album is a must-have and a fine collection piece.

CD Great, case cracked
Arrived as promised, the CD is great, but the case was cracked in 3 places..
