Fox Run Mortar and Pestle, Cast Iron, Black

This is perfect for my apothecary! This is not cheap or fake, it's real cast iron, and a nice substantial size. I use it for breaking down herbs for spells.

Works great. Very reasonable price. Looks beautiful, perfect size and so easy to clean. Does not retain odor. Easy to use. Heirloom quality. It is a little heavy, but is beautiful and works great.

It’s a cast iron mortar & pestle. What can be staid? I like the size it fits in the palm of my hand (I’ve got big hands). I like the heft (weight) of it I don’t feel like I’m going to ever break through it. It’s the perfect size for what I wanted. It’s going to be FAR above and beyond easier to clean than the hand held cast iron spice grinder I bought a few months ago. It’s a simple thing, how can any kitchen be without it. I like this mortar and pestle very much and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ordering this one. The casting on mine is flawless no air pockets no burrs no thin spots it’s a QUALITY tool!!!

Works great. Edges are a bit sharp which makes it slightly dicey to use harshly. Must be careful.Pestle is cast unevenly which works in its favor as it catches more particles to crush when spinning in the middle of the mortar.Seems sturdy and durable, but hard to say since it's going to degrade over a decade at least. Functionally, it's very useful.

This thing is SOLID and great quality for the price. I purchased this to crush daily medications and it's perfect for that.

However, it's worth mentioning a slight hiccup in the packaging - upon arrival, the packaging was damaged, leading to initial concerns about the integrity of the mortar and pestle inside. Fortunately, the set itself was unharmed and ready to impress. This incident speaks to the need for improved packaging, but the quality and beauty of the mortar and pestle remain undisputed, offering both form and function for culinary enthusiasts.

Eh. It’s ok. It’d be far better if the pestle were a bit longer. The seam on the pestle is also a bit troubling, depending on what I need to grind.

I purchased this to supplement a large granite mortar and pestle. The granite is so large and heavy that it’s awkward to drag it out and then clean it, especially for small tasks. This mostly gets used to crush fresh garlic. It’s small but has excellent weight. The pour spout is a really nice feature.Even though this product arrived pre-seasoned, before I use any cast iron, I season it with a round of Crisco. I’ve had no issues with rust at all. If it does rust, I’ll clean it with vinegar and season it again. It’s not a big deal.Unless I drop it on tile or concrete, I expect it to last as long as I do. I’m extremely happy with this purchase.
