Q: What pins do i need for this tool? i need to make up some d sub 9 pin serial connections.

I used this tool to crimp sub miniature D type connectors MIL-C-24308. The pins are used in both 25-way and 9-way connectors M39029/64-369 and M39029/63-368 respectively. The gage wire varied between 20 and 24 AWG. The harness I built was used on a light airplane to interconnect the transponder, ADS-B out and control head. The tool performed satisfactorily with no issues.

Q: Is this equivalent to a M22520/2-01 with a 2-08 positioned?

I am not sure what your spec is. This tool is not adjustable in any way, but it works just fine for the standard 16-20 gauge DEUTSCH contacts for which I bought it.
