UPDATE: After a warranty replacement about 6 months ago, the second pair didn't have the same problem with the toe area collapsing, but now the side areas are peeling.Even with these problems, I still like this boot. But, I have to accept the fact they are good for 6 months and not much more.The tread design is excellent and the boot is light, quick and flexible. The zipper on both pair have been flawless. This would be a good summer boot or similar. They also don't scream tactical and with a bit of boot black, can be touched up as needed.I may purchase these again, but at this point will consider them light duty and good for only 6 months.For a little more money, there are better boots available, but these do have their place.END UPDATEI'm on my feet many hours and on hard surfaces and these boots are excellent. No break in was required. The tread pattern is excellent and slip resistant in the real world.My last pair of Original SWAT Metro's lasted a year of hard use and these Alpha's might just become my goto boot. They are faster, lighter and you really don't need to polish them. A little boot black touch up goes a long way on the Alpha.UPDATE: I had these on my feet for 8 days straight, right out of the box, no break in. This was for up to 12 hours per day on concrete and ceramic floors, sometimes even wet and greasy floors. Metal treads were no problem. Excellent grip.Zero issues then and now. They are a perfect three season boot and are stupid easy to keep clean. Just use a boot brush and some water, then add a dab of black boot polish to the already wet brush and have at it. A little on the zipper goes a long way. This also help propel light rain, etc.

Another Update: Now on my 5th pair..... these are the only thing i wear for work as well as everday stuff. You cant go wrong with these boots!!UPDATE: Just ordered my 3rd pair!!! I wear these daily for work and play. They average about 2 years before needing replaced for me. I just dont think you can go wrong with these boots! Very comfortable and well made!Wow! I hesitated buying these. Glad I purchased them! Very comfortable, light weight and seem very well constructed. I norm a!!my buy boots from a competitor but liked the looks of these. So my opinion is ... Buy them, you won't regret it!!!!Update: bought a second pair because of their quality and comfort. Now I have 1 pair for casual and the other dor work. It's like wearing tennis shoes and I love that!

These boots are great. I buy them for my husband once a year when his old ones are worn out. He likes being able to both zip and tie them, allowing for adjustability and comfort. They’re lightweight and fit well with his work uniform. They start showing wear around 8 months or so, with heavy use, but it’s about the 12-month mark when we have to replace them. Highly recommend and will definitely purchase again.

Side zipper doesn’t actually make removing the boot any easier. It’s a pain to get off the foot. The tongue is way padded and never feels tight enough around the leg, at least for me. Appears well made, but won’t buy again. My buddy loves them though!

Very comfortable but loud clicks from the toes!! So disappointing. I can’t be stealth with that noise!

Ordered one pair that fit perfectly but made a popping sound when I walked. I asked for a new pair, but before they came the first pair must have broken in and are now fine. I wore Red Wing boots before and compared to these it was like I was wearing ankle weights. The boots are almost like running around in your socks except these are bad ass. The soles are a little slippery in certian conditions. I kept both pair to rotate!

I have owned a lot of different boots over the years and I am pretty critical of the boots I buy. So far so good with these. You have to know your size, which I am a 9.5 Wide. It is great that they offer that size and they fit perfectly. They are comfortable, easy to zip up and the laces stay tied. I did treat them with a hydrophobic spray to repel water and put them on a boot dryer every night. I love the fact that they are NOT polishable. I just give then a quick wipe down and they are good. Overall they look great, feel great and work great. Current opinion is excellent choice for the money. The last important test is durability and that comes with time. I expect a $100 boot to last more than a year. I am curious as to how the ripstop material will hold up as I have witnessed other boots with similar material not do so well. In all fairness, I am a police officer, and am pretty hard on my stuff. I will update as it goes.***UpdateA few months ago, I had one of the zippers break. I reached out to the company and they replaced the boots for free. I thought that was pretty awesome of the company and I was very happy with the service. Unfortunately, the zipper yet again broke on the newest pair after a couple of months. I have never had this issue with any of my other side zipper boots. I think the issue will just continue but I did reach out to the company again but have not received a response. I love the Original Swat Boot but the weak zippers is ultimately a deal breaker for me, I will try their lace up 6'' boot.
