Indiana Jones, here I come!
The backpack arrived today and it is beautiful just as other reviewers have mention. It was due to arrive closer to the second week in Sept but for some reason it arrived earlier-Yay! I'm due to start classes mid-September to finish my degree and I was on the look out for a leather backpack or messenger bag. This one filled in all the checkboxes and it's reasonably priced as well, therefore decided to give a try. It arrived exceptionally packaged in its own zipper bag, carefully packaged inside a box as well. ( Great touch with the zipper bag)I almost ordered the smaller size because I thought the larger one would be too big. I'm glad I went with the larger size which fits my 16 in lap top perfectly, with a ton of room left to spare. What i also like about it-that it's not bulky. Actually slimmer than my red Hurley back pack now, which I've love and it still holds up 4 years later after everyday use. However I needed a change and wanted a classier look. The leather is genuine, feels and smells like leather. I did not find the smell overwhelming like some reviews mentioned. ( It's leather, it's gonna smell)The stiching all around and the lining is exceptionally crafted- you can tell the maker has great attention to detail. The inside is very roomy and the inner pockets and zipper seem very well put together. (Definitely exudes classiness)The only negative, and I wouldn't really call it a negative is that the padding on the straps seem a little on the thin side. However, I won't be using this backpack in the summer because I'm sure a leather bag pack will get rather hot in 90+ degree weather.I'm very happy with my purchase and hope it lasts and it ages in time into a more beautiful color. ( By the way the color now is exactly what I wanted)

I smile every time I see this pack!
Well made at a bargain price. Once the smell mellows out, what's not to like? This is a sturdy, roomy leather pack for less money than a lot of boring nylon packs. This has a classic and classy look to it with its rich, variegated shades of brown. After breaking it in for a month or so, it is as comfortable as a perfectly aged baseball glove. The only down side, (aside from the smell) is the lack of multiple outside pockets. I can make do with the one fairly roomy pocket, especially since there are two divided internal pockets, making four total on the inside. One pocket on each side is padded, making room for separate laptop *and* tablet space.About the smell- I put it out in the mud room for a few days so the smell could dissipate. Some people I talked to liked the smell, others didn't. Since the pack was wrapped tightly in shrink wrap at the factory, The smell from manufacturing it were trapped inside, with no chance to escape until I opened the packaging in my living room. Boy, did it ever escape there. After a week, the smell was a much more pleasant "new leather" instead of industrial scent.I'm overall very pleased with this pack. Two thumbs up from this reviewer!

Gorgeous leather, smells lovely, real buckles
I purchased this gorgeous, rustic, vintage-looking leather rucksack as a 'go bag' in the event of an emergency where I need to flee. It actually fit everything that I wanted it to hold! This includes all of our legal paperwork (a ridiculous amount of folders), a change of clothes for me (including, but not limited to, a wool sweater and jeans), sundry food items, a small camping-type ss pot, a First Aid kit, a small Bible, paracord, an emergency 'hurricane' radio, etc. I am incredibly impressed that, although I have this pack stuffed to its proverbial gills, it shows no signs of complaining. I just wish that there were two side pockets so that I could keep a few things (like my extra pair of glasses) more easily accessible on the road. All things considered, however this is a great bag, and I highly recommend it.**Note: My husband, when I said I wanted to add leather conditioner to the bag, said that if it is indeed new, I should wait about a year to allow the tanning process to finish. I know nothing about such things so I will simply take his word for it. I think the bag is fairly waterproof 'as is' although certainly hope never to have to submerge it (like, while crossing a deep river) to find out.

Looks: A+. Construction: B-
It looks exactly as shown. The leather quality isn't the finest, but it isn't at all bad. It's very nice quality for such a reasonable price. I'm a bit concerned whether the places that will receive the most stress - attachments for straps and center loop - will still be strong after a few years of typical use. They look stronger than purse strap attachments at least, and all are attached with rivets. The roll-up top looks great when it's fully rolled, but when unrolled it's a long way down inside, and dark. But very secure. It takes some effort to unroll it and get inside, which should discourage snoopers and thieves.
