Yes, it is thick and dries in a stiff cast on your hair. But this IS for curly hair so... The application isnt super easy because once on the hair it feels a bit sticky and stiff, but it helps if your hair is pretty wet so that it helps to thin it out and distribute it throughout. The cast creates a nice curl and scrunches out nicely.The color is awesome! I used to get my hair colored to a rose gold but now that I have gone curly, my dark blond hair is a bit dull colored and this rose gel really spiffed up the color. And it was really well distributed too. I love it. I cant wait to try the copper.It is a little difficult to refresh with this gel and is more of a wash the day after thing...

I have curly hair and have wanted to use Curlsmith products for a while. My daughter had crazy hair day at school so I figured this was a good chance for two uses of one product. She has straight fine hair and the color sat well on her hair. It was clearly a colored gel type paint on her hair but it worked for crazy hair day. I used it on my curls and while the color was definitely there, it wasn’t as pronounced on my curls as on the straight hair. My hair is black so it almost looked like fine highlights

I knocked off one star simply because the color payoff isn't easy to achieve. I have pretty dark brown, 2c-3a curly hair. This was my first Curlsmith product and I'd gone into this knowing that I'd be scrunching in a lot of gel throughout and after the diffusing process. LET IT BE KNOWN THAT 3 FL OZ IS NOT A LOT OF PRODUCT - curlies, you know the deal. I was left with a super cute shimmery, slightly lighter version of my dark hair, which a few people actually did notice. Could I have used the bottle in one fell swoop to be pinker? Absolutely, but I did not want to waste the whole bottle on a test run. I'll use the remainder all in one shot when I have some kind of event or something this spring.HOWEVER, I was SHOOK by the effects of the actual styling gel! My hair curled like it hadn't curled in YEARS. It looked amazing and the hold lasted for 4-5 days. This product made me want to switch up all of my curly products and exclusively go Curlsmith.

The product does say it can go on straight hair - so for those with no curls, this product does make your hair very stiff as if you used a bunch of hair spray. If you don't mind that texture, go for it.The color aspect of it is nice, however, you have to glob it on per small section to even get the full color effect. It adds nice glitter and nice sheen, but if you want the color? Get a couple bottles and drench it on your hair.

I'm so disappointed. I been wanting to try this product for the longest. This is the only brand I know that has rose gold and I love the color in my hair. However this is nothing like hair paint wax when it comes to pigmentation. This does not show well on darker hair. It made my curls look dusty and it flakes extremely. My shirt and pillows are a mess. Even shaking my curls out flakes fall everywhere. Not a fan. It may show great on someone whose hair is blonde or bleached. And for $20 it was not worth it. Wish I could get a refund. This was the best pic I could get to show it and I had my ring light on.

Used on black hair and you could see the color. Love this product.

This is my before and after for visual effect. The makeup is thick and I have found that sectioning out my hair and applying with praying hands gets the best coverage. Then I put more on my hands and dab my roots around my face and scrunch. Then I plop and dry.

Obviously I didn’t follow directions. I wanted to blow my curly hair straight, so I put this product all over damp hair and blew it out. All the color flakes off, it doesn’t work. If I had used it as instructed, it would have been fine.
