SizzixThinlits Die 665201 Perspective Butterfly by Tim Holtz, Multicolor

I am new to die cutting. This is one of my first purchased wafer dies. It is a large die with intricate detail so be aware of this if you require a more basic shape. It is a gorgeous lacey butterfly design which can be used whole for certain projects or partially because it is very large for a standard A2 card front. I would recommend also getting the Sizzix tools to punch out the die cut outs from the main shape. There is a foam pad, rolling brush and a die pick which is very handy to remove the pieces from the die cut. It does take time and patience with this particular die since there are so many interior cut outs.

This is bigger than an A2 card and looks great angled. It is easy to weed after die cutting.

I love this die. This is the most beautiful die yet. I used the sandwich as instructed on the die package with black construction paper and ran it thru my Sizzix Switch 3 passes (although it appeared ready at 2) and the pieces just fell out. Then tried (with waxed paper) duct tape on copy paper and found the duct tape was just too sticky, although the waxed paper did indeed make it fall out of the very intricate die. Wonderful and beautifully executed.

This die is lovely and comes out clean when using regular craft paper; however if you use a heavier cardstock, it takes a lot of work. I ended up using three different die cutting machines. I purchased this die to use as angel wings for folding book angels and they look amazing.

The butterfly is well worth the money. Absolutely beautiful results with all types of paper. I’m going to buy another one for backup. Foiling looks gorgeous !!! The metal is strong and durable.

I must begin by saying that I have always been impressed with the quality from both Tim Holtz and Sizzix. Unfortunately this die, although beautiful, is extremely difficult to use. I contemplated returning it, but in the end decided to keep it.I tried several ways of cutting the butterfly before finally finding a way to get a complete cut in one pass through the Big Shot. Sizzix makes a special cutting pad for intricate dies. Using this in addition to a shim was the answer. Any other method I tried, even with shims, resulted in incomplete cuts.Of course once the butterfly is actually cut, you still have to spend 10 minutes or more removing all of the tiny pieces from both the die and cut piece. Be prepared to put in a lot of time and effort for each die cut. I can't imagine it being able to cut through cardstock. I only had success with regular copy paper and brochure weight paper.

This die is absolutely beautiful! It is Tim Holtz... what else is there to say?

I dread using this as it is super hard to cut. It's beautiful and I love the size but it brings a lot of misery to my day

This was a considered purchase. When I saw this die, it took me all of 3 seconds to decide that I needed it!! :-) Sizzix are a reliable company and their cutting dies have never failed me yet. I would never consider buying dies from anywhere else. Lovely big butterfly, cuts perfectly and I can't wait to use it in a project.
