In love with this pointed round brush set
I am very impressed by this brush set. First, I bought this as “used” and got $5.00 off. I expected that there would be signs in of usage - like no more glue or maybe missing the protective plastic. I was shocked to see how dirty the protective plastics were, and how a couple brushes looked like someone ran over them and scratched them somehow. However, these brushes are so well made, that despite the abuse, I was able to clean them up, cut off bent hair from the #6 brush, and try them out. They hold a good amount of water, have a good spring (the bristles keep together as you paint) and a good snap (the bristles return to their shape) allowing good control overall. This should work well with gouache and acrylic paint too. I love the full belly and pointy shape too. The regular price is about $20. For the quality of these brushes? Yes! Worth the price. Great value.

Surprise quality
Brushes are a lot about personal preference, however this set not only gave me a great range of sizes to play with, but I paint well with these. They feel snappy and keep a nice point and so far, I've had no problem with any of the bristles deteriorating. For the price, they are a great find and I would re-order if I ever need to.

Hold lots of paint and keep a great point
Natural hair brushes are said to hold more water and keep a better point. As a beginner I thought the best way was to try both types. I purchased this set and a similar set of natural hair brushes. Prices were similar as was the assortment. Having tried both this set excels. The natural hair brushes did not keep a point and the larger size natural hair brushes never achieved a good point. This set is an excellent range of sizes for this beginner. The entire range come to a fine point, clean easily and they hold plenty of paint. Great buy.

Schpirerr Farben - Detail Paint Brushes
Overall... not very bad. I ordered these as likely junk brushes, to try on a huge and very detailed watercolor that I am presently working on... these look great right out of the package... I realize you get what you pay for, and I read a heck of a lot of the reviews on these brushes, so my expectations weren't too high.. I Live a long way from our art supply store and just needed a new small flat and figured, "what the heck, I'm bound to get a few good ones, plus some extras if I'm lucky". They arrived in two days.. They looked surprisingly well made in the cheap packaging, but closer inspection revealed one or two brushes with jagged or uneven hairs, one "liner" had a couple of stray hairs.. I fixed these perfectly with a clean "razor sharp" scissors. I picked the brushes that I need, and tested them out on the same type paper that my present piece is working on.. After a good few minutes I was able to determine that these will work beautifully for me, given my technique, my watercolors are pretty detailed and require a smooth, soft but semi firm brush that can make clean lines and smooth flat strokes. The bristles feel firm enough to hold up and give good lines, yet soft and pliable enough to give good control. These that I ordered have short tips so water retention is rather minimal and may require you to return to your water a little sooner, but I'm very used to this. These are nice clean looking brushes, they feel good in the hand and give me the feeling of good sure control... Yes these are cheap brushes... I have many $30-$45 brushes, but that's just the point, I can use these and and they will work perfectly for less money just as I hoped. I bought these for the small flats, the rest will find a purpose on some other piece one day... These are very economical for the number of brushes that you get, absolutely perfect for a beginner trying to learn detailed watercolor and I truly think a seasoned artist can make these things "Rock"...!! I would recommend these, for the price, you have nothing to lose.. Enjoy..!

Great detail brushes!
I paint in acrylics and do allot of detail work in my paintings. These brushes are the best detail brushes that I've found yet! They hold up well and don't lose their shape after just a couple of uses. I've used them on several paintings now and they're still just like new. The bristles aren't too soft or too stiff. Just right for what I need! I'm very happy with them!

I guess they’re fine
Packaging is very basic, commodity type. Nice range of sizes in the round set. Bought to practice skills, so the negatives here are relative. Ferels were loose on the 12 and 16. 16 had stray hairs at the tip, easily trimmed. After a study of all brushes, executing the same exact strokes for each, the stiffness of the brushes yielded nearly exactly results with 4,6,8 and also 10,14.
