I've been using these bags for several years and have been very satisfied. They do take a little longer to degrade in a backyard compost bin, and obviously if you leave a bunch of wet trash sitting in them for too long they might get a little leaky, but I figure that's a reasonable compromise between sturdiness and compostability.My most recent order was clearly defective: the bags were a darker color, and they would split the entire length of the bag just by pulling them out of the box. I contacted the company directly and a rep got back to me within 20 minutes. She suggested I check the date printed on the bags, and explained that they've had problems lately with expired bags being sold through resellers, even though customers are clicking on the “BioBag Store.” Sure enough, the date on the bags was 2020! She FedEx-ed me a new box (dated 2024) and these bags are fine.If you get a bad batch, check the manufacturing date printed on the bags! if it's more than 18 months ago, I encourage you to email the company at [email protected] and include your Amazon order number so they can identify the reseller and file a claim with Amazon.I do recommend these bags, and I'd hate to see a reliable company that's doing good work have their reputation damaged for something that isn't their fault.

This is the best batch of compostable bags I've gotten so far. They've held up really well in my compost bucket. I normally put dryish things in them, but even damp things are OK. When they're full, I tie them up and throw them in my city compost can for commercial composting. I've heard these kinds of bags don't break down as easily in home compost heaps and just get gummy and weird.I like that these come as individual bags in a stack instead of on a roll like all the other bags I've gotten. When they're on a roll, you have to be careful when tearing them off the roll, because they're so thin and fragile. These open up easily, and I haven't had any tear on me so far.

I bought these before.There’s a lot in the box so if you go through say one bag every other day, it’s gonna lady a long time. I’m now on our second box and I’d recommend them.One thing to keep in mind is, if you’re composting items that produce a lot of humidity or liquids, the bag may start breaking sooner. I would recommend you take the whole bin to the compost before you take the bag out of it.Someone in my family thought they were smarter 😂and tried to do without the bin, and they ended up having to clean up my whole counter, and everything else, because all the scraps came out the bottom.It’s also not going to hold heavy weight, so that’s one reason to walk out with the bin.It’s intended to decompose so it’s obviously going to be thinner than your average garbage trash bags. LOL!I rated mid low range for durability, leak proof and sturdiness because they are INTENDED to break down. If you expect them to not break apart at all, then they would not be compostable.Reason to use them instead of nothing in the bin, is so I’m not soaping up my small compost bucket every time I’m taking it out, and I don’t have any food scraps, coffee grinds etc left in it, that then would go down the drain clogging them.They’re certified compostable, or at least that’s what it states, so my hope is there’s no microplastic going into environment 🤞🏼I’d recommend these.

I was very hopeful about these bags. We try very hard to recycle our plastic shopping bags, and the thought of buying plastic bags of similar material specifically to throw away made little sense to us. Moving to these bags, which we expect to degrade in a more planet-friendly way, was awesome.But a few warnings based on our experience.- The bags are tall enough for a tall kitchen can, but there is no integrated tie so the bags tend to fall down into the can and have to be resituated often. We use a large rubber band to help secure it, which mostly works.- Because there is no integrated tie, we have to leave some length to tie a knot in the plastic when removing the bag from the can. This reduces the capacity by 25% or so. So we are using many more bags each week.- The bags are more expensive than those made of traditional plastic. Coupled with the comment above, we feel the cost is too much for the benefit.- Finally, once in a while we have a particularly heavy item in the trash (for example the remnants of a rotisserie chicken). The bags never broke due to the weight, but often we would rip the bags where we were holding them as we were trying to remove them from the can. This leaves even less space for tying a knot (or using a spare twist-tie) to close the bag.For us, the combination of these drawbacks made the bags unsuitable for long-term use. We are still using them here and there and are happy when they work out. But unfortunately they will not be our go-to replacement for everyday use.

Durable, convenient, size good for composting fruits and vegetable peels over a few days. Bag contains odors from food remnants until the bag is transferred to a larger composting bin.

More durable than they look or feel and holds more than I expected. Very pleased that these are compostable.

These eco friendly, biodegradable bags may not look durable, but they are pretty strong for holding quite some waste. However, they can get holes in them pretty easily if not careful, but that is to be expected. The quality is worth the value for your money.

Terrible... Leaks in the metal container and I need to clean out every bag change if I use one bag.Now I double bag.Think the bags are biodegrading in the container.I don't over stuff the bags and they are 1/2 full when I bring them out to the recycling bin. Nor do I put sharp objects which would poke holes in the bag.I do not change every day...more like every 3-4 days.They were substantial cheaper than the other brands but if I need to double bag each use then it makes them the more expensive option.:(
