Great for Digging!
I bought these because I needed some great work/outdoorsy boots for an archaeology field school at Crown Point up in the Adirondacks last spring. I kid you not, I saw them on a list of "Shoes for Archaeology" and I chose them from there. They looked the least dorky out of all the shoes on the list. I'll say, I'm glad I chose them. They suited my needs almost perfectly. They fit pretty good. I have wide feet, and I felt they fit just fine, if not on the larger side. There is a break in period. But after they break in, they become quite comfortable. They're not bad to stand in, sit on, crouch in, etc. I would recommend them for job site stuff. They're pretty easy to clean, as their mad of mostly smooth leather. I got these things caked in mud, and a quick once over with a brush, wash cloth, and some polish makes them look damn near brand new. I will also say, these shoes can take serious abuse. I put these through hell, and other than the scratches you expect to show up on leather over time, creases on the toes, and the laces getting a bit fuzzy, there was barely any damage. They held and continue to hold up great. I also had a big ol' gash I got swimming in lake Champlain after a dig, and the boot had very reasonable support. Helped the wound heal pretty good. Oh, also, I like the way they look. They look good. Now, there are some cons to these boots as well. I believe it say they're water proof. This not exactly true. I did wear these in rain. My feet did come out dry. However, you could see the leather absorbing the water and getting all dark rather than repelling it. So, they do fine in wet conditions, but I'd advise doing a coat of something hydrophobic for your shoes if you want them to last. These shoes are built tough, and are HEAVY as a result. They're not egregiously heavy, but heavier than a hiking boot, and most other work boots I've owned. I wouldn't recommend these if you have to do a ton of walking on site, but if you do, you will survive in these. I did. Lastly, these boots have virtually no ventilation. They're not hot like a dedicated snow boot, but they do make for feet reek after a day of being in them. I had to keep them outside the tent.Overall, I'd recommend them. They're worth the price, especially if you take care of them after you but them through hell.

A Hidden Gem in the CAT Lineup: Built for Hardworking Men Seeking Quality and Value !
Durable, Comfortable, and Work-Ready BootsThese CAT Second Shift work boots are everything they claim to be and more. They not only look fantastic but perform just as well on the job site. At first glance, I thought they seemed larger than my normal size by 1 or 2 sizes, but once I put them on, they fit perfectly. The slightly bulkier look is likely due to the steel toe design, which adds about half an inch of extra bulk in the toe section.I added a padded insole for a touch of extra comfort, and now they feel amazing—like I’m ready to take charge as the foreman! The Climasphere breathable insole does a great job keeping my feet cool and comfortable, even during long shifts. The quality oiled full-grain leather and Goodyear Welt Construction are impressive, ensuring these boots are both durable and flexible. The T3 Rubber Outsole offers excellent slip resistance, and the steel shank adds much-needed stability and support. What stands out about this boot is that it feels like an Easter egg within the CAT lineup, most likely geared toward hardworking men who deserve a break while still receiving top-notch quality for their money. With added features like electrical hazard protection and the engineered nylon mesh lining, this boot delivers everything you’d expect and more. CAT really nailed it with this model—highly recommended!

Without Any Equivocation, These Boots are the Best Workshoes I've Ever Owned.
Due to the fact that I have serious Neuropathy in both feet, and my left foot is larger than my right foot, I'm always hesitant to purchase shoes or boots--any shoes or boots. And, I'm even more hesitant to purchase work boots without having the opportunity to first try them. So, it was with great trepidation that I purchased this pair of Caterpillar Work Boots. Nevertheless, I just sort of "let it rip."Once the Caterpillar Work Boots arrived, I tried them on, and wore them inside my house. Obviously, I figured if the fit was less-than-acceptable, or they hurt my feet, I'd simply box them up and return them to Amazon.Amazingly, not only did they NOT hurt my feet, they fit spectacularly well; and they were even comfortable. Now, I've purchased far-too-many pairs of work boots throughout my life to even attempt to keep count, and NEVER have I ever had a pair of work boots fit as well as the Caterpillar Work Boots. They are simply amazing--I have no other way to describe them.Since receiving these Caterpillar Work Boots back in February 2020, I've worn them a number of times; and when I've worn them, I've had them on for an extended period of hours. I'm serious when I say these Caterpillar Work Boots are even more comfortable than any of my New Balance athletic shoes. Due to my severe Neuropathy, my Podiatrist suggested that I wear New Balance athletic shoes. New Balance athletic shoes are supposed to be "the poor man's answer to severe Neuropathy." And, I do agree that they ARE for "poor men"; I wear New Balance athletic shoes because my Podiatrist wanted to sell me a pair of custom-maid Diabetic shoes at the very pricey sum of $1,050.00 (one thousand fifty dollars, and zero cents). Since my health insurance plan will not cover the custom made Diabetic shoes, and custom-made insoles (i.e.; inserts), also at the extremely pricey sum of $450.00 (four hundred fifty dollars, and zero cents), I'm on-my-own for modalities.Well, heck, wearing the Caterpillar Work Boots is so comfortable I just might make them my "everyday shoes." After all I'm a resident of deep-south southwestern North Carolina, way up in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so around these here-parts, the Caterpillar Work Boots just might be considered "very down-home; and very, very stylish." Y'all never know! But, I'd definitely recommend these Caterpillar Work Boots: they're very comfortable; exceptionally durable (they haven't even begun to show the slightest bit of wear); they have a great safety track record; and they're quite affordable. And, if you doubt me about the "affordable" part of my review, just check the prices on some of the competitor's work boots. You'll be shocked! The Caterpillar Work Boots are definitely deserving of Five Stars!
