It does not. but you can buy the Hunter remote for about 35 bucks.

I have a lower ceiling, so looking for a fan that will be very close to the ceiling. How far does this hang down if installed via "flushmount" way?

Using the shortest post provided in the package (which i believe is considered their flushmount), my fan measures 17" to the bottom of the light bowl. Though, the kit does come with the option to not use the lights if you so chose, which could gain you back another 5-6".I also have 8 ft ceilings. Will it work with remote

Installed fan with a "Lutron Maestro Fan Control/Dimmer kit", works just fine. These kits will not work with "CFL" or "LED" bulbs, only with "Halogen or incandescence bulbs. With this kit one can control fan speed and light brightness. Have installed these kits on all five fans in my home(they are all Hunters of different styles). So far for the last few years no problems.

Looking for a ceiling fan that can move a lot of air on high speed. Is this a good fan for the job? Does it have a high RPM on high speed?

Hi....Your best bet would be to purchase a four (4) blade rather than five (5) blade this is because the fifth blade decreases the RPM thereby reducing the CFM (Cubic feet/Minute) Look for the CFM rating for the fan you wish to purchase the higher the CFM the greater the airflow efficiency.............WRB
