Ignore the negative reviews for mycology - they’ve obviously new.
I’ve been using these rye berries as grain spawn for mycology and I’ve had great success. Yes, some grains will burst after boiling or pressure cooking but that’s to be expected (it’s less than 1% in my case). I’ve soaked for 12-36 hours with no visible mold growth, but yea they will gain a fermented kinda funk to them after a long soak, but that’s the point - you want latent spores to germinate so pressure cooking will kill them off. Dormant endospores are very heat resistant, you need them to germinate to kill them off. Anyhow, you can probably get a lot more cheaper at a tractor supply store but this was more than enough grain to last me over a year, and delivered to my door. Best deal I’ve seen for rye berries on Amazon by far, and I’m highly satisfied with the quality.

Pleasantly surprised
I was kind of torn on whether or not to order because reviews were so mixed however, I was pleasantly surprised to see there were no bugs and little to no pieces of anything other than grain. I really wanted to start milling my own flour for my sourdough starter, but finding grain that’s organic and yet at a reasonable price is really hard. As of right now, this is the best grain that’s ready to use I have found, price and quality wise. I will continue to order from them in future, however the moment the quality changes I will update my review.

Organic
I grow mushroom and use this to make grain grow bags. I love it because it is organic meaning nothing is sprayed on it. I have had great luck growing mushroom in grow bag with this included. I only wish this was a subscribe and save item use it frequently.

ABOVE AND BEYOND!!
I had been reading a lot of bad reviews on this product (after I made my purchase). Don't let the bad apples spoil it for the bunch. This product came in clean, no mold, and no ergot or whatever it is. This product did come in with a couple busted grain which may be bad for me. I use for mycology and busted grains from my knowledge will leave me with nothing but contamination in my work. Praying that's not the case. But as a whole I think this product came in kinda clean, I say kinda cause it was 3 rinses before I had clear water. No biggie. Great price for the amount of grain. And all the jar pics were 3 different scoops of grain all before I rinsed. I don't think you can go wrong with this brand.Update- I do wanna say for those that use this to eat, I would say find another source maybe. I was finding alot or argot in my bag and alot of bust grain which is bad for what I use them for. Other than that they worked fine and I guess a rye grain is a rye grain.

There is a small amount of black weed seed it's not ergot.
I wanted to use this as a cover crop, it works however I had to pick through it because of a small amount of weed seeds. It's not ergot ergot is very light and fluffy. These seeds are just as heavy as rye and about the same shape, probably impossible to separate by mechanical equipment.

arrived quickly
Good quality. I immediately unpackage and vacuum seal in glass jars, which allows me to inspect the grain soon after arrival. This grain was very clean, no chaff or dirt. Ground some up for bread and was very pleased with the flavor and texture of the bread.

Great shipping and great quality
I’ve purchased five 25 lb bags and one 50 of different grains from this company so far and each has been well packaged with zero damage (No mangled flimsy box full of loose product) and I’m very pleased with the quality of each one. I’d love easy to peel off ID labels for my containers if they read this.
