HOP-141B DVD Laser Lens for XBOX 360 BenQ VAD6038 by A1store

My DVD Laser lens was dying on my Xbox 360, so I order one from A1Store, and it came very quickly on standard mail.It came with instructions, but most importantly, it had a soldering bulb on it! (I was very happy about that, because if it did not I would have sent it back just as fast as it came!)The only reason I am giving them 4 stars out of 5 is due to the fact that now I can not put an Xbox game disc in and play the disc, (though I must concede I might have another problem, which may not have anything to do with A1store, and I don't really use the disc to play games anyway, so it really does not bother me too much.)Would I order from A1Store again? Hell yes!

When I received this item, the soldering ball was already removed and it did not work when I installed it. Never got to put my soldering iron skills to the test. Sad face bear.

My old laser had been getting really glitchy and not working as well as it should with certain frames being 'burned' into the background until I would hit a new checkpoint where it would disappear. Got this new one in and it works great. Clocking it was pretty easy so long as you have a DVOM. If you have no idea how to do soldering, clocking/POT tweaking, DVOM testing, or electrical connections I would NOT recommend you attempt this on your own. It has to be set precisely in the POT tweaking. Too strong of focus and you burn the laser out in 15 minutes and all that work will be for naught. Too weak of focus and you'll never get it to read discs. IF YOU HAVE NO ELECTRICAL COMPUTER BACKGROUND, THIS IS NOT A JOB YOU SHOULD TRY. YOUTUBE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER. Otherwise the laser works great and no more weird 'burnt' images anymore. It's a bit loud but that's because the disc tray is open. I just have the magnet holding the disc on the tray. Decent price, works great, good stuff. Remember, this is NOT a project for a "oh yeah I'm so boss at everything" teenager. This needs to be done by someone who has more than just basic electrical training.

Installed it in my xbox with a Philips drive. worked fine without any issues.The reviewers that are complaining that it doesn't work, most likely did not read the notice that they have to remove the anti-static solder point. This is a MUST! just do a search and you will find several posts and youtube videos.

The comment from Andrew is from a complete idiot. His post is a complete lie and sounds like someone that has no business even turning a computer on. If you have done the board solder then this is easier. You DO NOT have to do any special tweek to make this work. Why would you? So stupid to think that replacing a part with the same identical part that you would have mod it. LOL. There is a BenQ video on youtube that will walk you through the whole replacement. Just take off the non static solder point and your good to go. (Just a slight brush with your solder gun) it comes off VERY easy. Just go slow and don't break anything and you will see that this is an easy job. Makes more sense than replacing the drive with a used one. This will return your drive to as new as you can get. Throw a little lithium grease on the gears if you want to. NOT a need. Don't be scared by idiots that shouldn't be working on computers. FYI, Ive been a computer tech for over 12 years. I get tired of fake techs that make stuff up to sound cool.
