I almost didn't order this gong at first because there are a handful of reviews here that indicate the sound quality is poor with this gong. Please, please disregard those reviews. Does this gong have the deep, traditional gong sound that you've seen on TV? No. Does this gong sound like banging on your grandma's pots and pans? Also no. I assure you it would be impossible for ANY gong of those size to have the deep traditional gong sound. This is a desk gong, folks. If you want that sound, look for a gong at least 10x this size. You will be impressed at the workmanship of this gong. It was very clearly hammered into its shape, the wood stand is good, the cord that holds the gong to the stand is high quality. You'll be able to see why you paid $45 for this as opposed to $10 for many of the others. With that said, mine didn't come with a mallet to hit the gong with, but Amazon has rushed a new one out and it'll be here on Monday so no biggie!

The manufacturers box was open and one foot was missing on the black gong I ordered. But I'm handy and I immediately made it a whole new base and had it set up before my hubby got home. Had one of my 12" dolls standing in front of it looking like he was swinging the mallet. He loved it. And I loved the deal on a better quality gong that really looks great. May copy the single foot in the future just to complete it, but the new base will work better for my purposes. I like the sound too.

You simply can not beat the quality/value of this gong. Is it a professional musical instrument... no. However, it is larger than I thought it would be, very nice to look at... and sounds fantastic! Its a true gong splash that sounds exactly how you imagine it would with one of this size. I highly recommend. We ring a bell in the office when an order comes in.... we will now be hitting the gong :)

Sounds better than expected. Base could be a little more sturdy but, overall very happy with it

I use this to announce various activities, like "It's time to leave" around the house. It's small and fits on a desktop or bookcase shelf, but it's quite attractive and has a pleasant sound. It's not a deep gong sound, obviously, but it's not a tinny little piece of annoyance either. It's made by Zildjian, a famous maker of cymbals for drummers.

I'm a percussionist, so I appreciate a well made product. While I do think the stand and mallet are a little "cheap," the gong itself is TOP NOTCH. The tonation is fantastic, and it puts myself and the energy of my office in a balanced state of mind. It also looks amazing in my office. More authentic than the overly design-heavy gongs I've seen on Amazon. Highly recommend.

The sounds is good. As others note, it won't sounds like the classic gong noise from movies because it's too small. Still it's fun to use and worth every penny.

This gong looks great, but sounds terrible. I bought it to use at a junior high school to reward students for their achievements on tests, however when it arrived on for the legs was loose and the screw was made of brass and stripped when I attempted to fix it. The sound that was posted with this gong must have been from a perfect example or another product. I can make the same sound using pans. I sent it back, Amazon was great with the return and purchased a Zildjian instead. If you are looking for a decorative piece, this gong is great, however if you want it to function spend more on a real gong.

It is very nice as decoration. It is very small and it doesn't sound like a gong. Expensive for what it is.

Absolutely love this, i purchased this for my Yoga and Meditation classes and its just perfect. I really nice gentle sound. Very very pleased :-)

My step son was given this for Christmas for his new apartment when he moves out in the spring and just loves it. Unique and his style. It's not quite as big as I envisioned, but the gong is beautiful and sounds "genuine" when banged. Thank you!
