Q: Would this be suitable for toddler twins?

I bought it for my daughter who had 1yr old twins, they both went in together as well as their 3yr old sister. They were very comfortable and loved it but their favourite game was leaning on the side to let the water overflow so it needs to be placed inside a bath or shower cubicle to avoid flooding!

Q: Can the sit support - called central column - left to be not inflated? Does it have a stand-alone valve? According to the images I expect that.

Yes this part does not need to be inflated, it has a separate valve

It would be suitable if you had the newborn seat for baby to lay on too! It is quite a good size and would fit most seats suitable for the newborns.

Q: Im going on plane soon with my baby. Is this compact enough to fit in a suitcase?

Yes, very easy to fold up and does not take up much space.
