Luthor
Lex Luthor knows how great mankind's potential is and he is willing to expand his vast resources to encourage society's development. He truly feels that humanity is stagnating due to a malign influence: The very existence of the so called Man of Steel.Azzarello's punchy storyline encourages readers to question Superman's effect not only on the city of Metropolis, but in the whole world. It's easy to see Kal-El as a beacon of hope but, with a slight shift of perspective, Luthor's fear is also possible. The very presence of Superman could make people over reliant on him to sort out all their problems, causing all that is good about mankind to wither on the vine.

Azzarello delivers a captivating story, and I might have a new favourite DC villain.
This is an interesting one, this DC Black Label release of Luthor is actually Luthor: Man of Steel #1-5 (it isn't stated on the back but rather on the inside) that was originally released in 2005 reprinted under DC Black Label for it's 10th anniversary, Luthor is written by Brian Azzarello and art from Lee Bermejo. I should say that I'm very new to Superman comics having only read my first last night which was Frank Miller's recently released Superman Year One, I picked this up simply because I read Azzarello's Joker and figured I might as well pick up Luthor as well for some incentive to get into Superman. As I've already stated I'm not familiar with Superman comics, I've only gotten into them maybe a year ago, I've known the characters since I was a kid but this was a real treat and Azzarello has possibly given me a new favourite villain with the depth and complexity of the character. I won't give away the story but instead give an idea of what the idea of this comic is. This is the perspective of Luthor and the belief that Superman is a threat to the human race, everyone else loves Superman but Luthor questions when and if Superman, an unstoppable alien being could change his opinions on humanity and instead use his power against it. Luthor is an idealist who sees the unstoppable threat Superman poses and wants to prevent it. A thing I love about this story is that it shows that Luthor genuinely cares for humanity, he may do some bad but does good as well, he's not a straightforward bad guy like say the Joker giving a layer of depth and complexity that other villains lack and it's is deeply appreciated here.Overall, I found this a fantastic read and easily favoured it over Azzarello's Joker, the artwork is decent but the story is the center of attention for me. If you want a different perspective of Lex Luthor and an entertaining read look no further, you may be just as surprised as I was. This comic has given me a different view as to how I will look at the character and I'm glad to have read it so early on in my adventure through Superman comics because I will always think of Lex the way Azzarello has. I will be including several pictures of the artwork and for the reasonable price urge anyone who is curious about this, especially Superman fans into picking this up.Hopefully you found this review helpful and happy reading.

A decent comic with quality art
It's an excellent comic showing rare insight in the Luthor perspective.I would have liked them to go even a bit further in showing elements in his favor as halfway through the sympathetic edge felt a bit downplayed.Still throughout the narrative it becomes rather clear why Lex hates Superman but also what a positive he could be for humanity if he'd stop obsessing over Superman. On the other hand if applying r/l logic he does have a point.Kryptonians and other demigod beings could easily enslave humanity and Lex is one of the few 'mere mortals' that might come up with a solution.

Video in-depth review
The media could not be loaded. As you can see from my video I go in-depth and compare have this novel stacks up with others in terms of size print quality and overall aesthetic‘s.The pages on Luthor are much more Glossy than Joker.I never review stories because that comes back to personal bias.Overall I would say this paperback version is the best if you are not sure if you would like the story or not. The only compromise is size with this version

The true Übermensch?
Artwork - greatStory - very good, shows Luthor from a slightly misunderstood perspective. His actions are still viallanous, perhaps the worst he's ever commited, however his ideals what drive him are of a virtuous nature - that humans should, and could, strive to be the best they can be and build a better world without limitations.Q: Why can't humans achieve this?A: Superman
