Great welder producing good welds but DON'T use cheap welding wire!
I NEED TO CHANGE MY REVIEW. SO FORGET "This welder produces decent welds, which are not pretty but do the job.". The wire I used was the one that Amazon recommended, it was cheap. Since I swapped to SIP wire the difference between the welds is night and day. The 4th picture is a vertical and a fillet weld with SIP wire. Much less spatter and very easy to get a decent run. Furthermore it is much easier to see the weld pool with SIP wire. The customer support from the supplier is really good and quick. I had trouble with the trigger - which is a microswitch in the gun, the contacts get dirty which means instead of zero resistance there was 1KOhm which is effectively open circuit, so I asked the supplier for a new switch, the supplier sent a whole gun instead, so no complaints from me.My original review is below, still valid but I feel obliged to change my rating based on weld wire and customer service.I have only ever welded SMAW before and it took some time and practice to get reasonable welds. It is virtually the same as hundreds of other budget welders on the market - design, controls, etc. I have seen so many YouTube videos of Asian welders using similar welders, producing decent welds, so there is no reason this welder cannot.Confusingly it has a gas connection and a gas hose which would mean it could be used as a MIG welder, but there is no simple way to change the polarity, (I guess it could be done by someone with electrical skills as the internal cables are terminated and bolted together); I see from some product reviews that people have used it with gas and had good results. Seems as if the supplier intended it as multi-purpose and then gave up half way. I checked the output voltage but only got an AC reading, nothing DC. There is a rectifier on the output cable, it may be my multimeter is old, it seems that it is only half wave rectification so it is like an alternating DC current. There are 4 switch positions for voltage, I only had success on 3 or 4 and a high wire speed around 60 - 75%. Positions 1 or 2 may be suitable for 0.6 mm wire but I cannot find any supplier who supplies this in 100mm/0.5 Kg spools, so it is difficult to weld thin metal - I did a successful repair on a met-post which was around 1.5 - 2mm thick but practice welds on an old CH radiator ended mostly in holes, I also welded ¼” steel plate and rebar with acceptable results (see photos). The weld results correspond with many YouTube video reviews of budget welders, so it is comparable. If you do not like spatter then use an anti-spatter spray. It is of sturdy construction and paintwork is good. What I DON’T like about this welder. It passes itself off as a ‘German origin’ but is not, it is made of Chinese components probably somewhere in Asia; no German welding company called Röhr exists. The instruction book is useless. It states ‘welding inverter’, it is not - it is a transformer welder, (I have a welding inverter which is about 20% of the weight). There is no table of settings vs material thickness, so some practice is required to set it up.The book states that it should be used with argon gas but it is sold as gasless. The supplier responds quickly to questions but appears to be just as confused as some of the buyers of this equipment about these extra fittings..In troubleshooting it states ‘clean the tungsten electrode’, which is TIG welding so not applicable. With a better instruction book I would give a higher rating.

With this spec for the price paid it has to be great value for money.
This welder is easy to use and the controls self explanatory. Produces a steady uniform weld and is ideal for light commercial and hobbyist welders. Can tackle small and medium jobs with ease. It's well constructed and certainly value for money with a great spec. An all round good investment and I’m very happy with my purchase.

great for automotive work
this is good value for money welder . I used it nonstop for two days repairing automotive panels with very little problems. It is important to use a good quality welding wire to achieve a good finish . I used welding wire bought from a well known motoring accessory shop and found it to be the best . only downside wire feed speed setting takes a bit of getting used to. overall very pleased .

Great first welding setup.
What an awesome setup I would recommend to anybody wanting to get into welding to start off with this. The build quality is awesome but the supplied mask was a good bin liner. Once I had a automatic mask it became much easier to use.I bought this to try my hand in car body repair as was quotes insane sums to replace some sill end caps. Although my skills are less than perfect and this setup is less than ideal for body panel welding it is possible with the right technique. So what should have cost me over £1000 has ended up costing me less than £250 including welder metal fillers and paint.

Great welder for a beginner.
Brought this welder to try and do my own welding on my van. Item arrived well packaged and I am by far no expert welder but I found this easy to use and the instructions were easy to follow! I expect if an expert looked at my welding they would find fault! But this welder was excellent for the job I wanted it to do. Saved on garage expenses.

Well I regret buying it!!! Not approved by ChillZoneBoys.
Welder is great when it is working. Company has send me a broken one at first then saying that It is my fault. They tried to forced me to pay for it. I just wonder how many has been a victims to this policy. The replacement costed me a lot of time and stress, but eventually I have ended up with a welder that is a great little machine. I love the welder, great quality, solid, allowing you to produce a great welds throughout the projects. I love the machine but due to the awful company I have to give only one star. Value for money DIY MIG welder
Good basic welder. Well made, sturdy construction.4mm flex power chord and 25mm copper earth conductor. Will NOT fit 5kg wire.Good heat penetration on 1.5mm to 5mm steel fabrication.Earth clamp and termination of conductor soon started to deteriorate. Still functions okay.Torch switch a little temperamental. I filed down the stops on the red switch to improve functionality.A good product, even with the couple of issues detailed above.
