Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Super light hearted cuteness. It was perfect. Like just a fun read without too much drama or angst just a lot of mix signals lol. Cute af!

A fan-fic by any other name...
If you hadn't seen the show, this would seem like a pretty clever bit of plotting. As it stands, I have mixed feelings: maybe I should have read the description or reviews more closely. The phrase "inspired by" suggests some fine distinctions around appropriating the plot of a currently-running TV show which are lost on me. Why not just call it fan-fiction?That issue aside, the characters do for the most part have their own, distinct personalities, and things develop differently than the premise of the show/book suggests they might. The writing is generally competent if on the fluffy/optimistic side, although there were a few glaring grammatical errors which I had to squint past ("Her and I's" - multiple times). Overall fairly "lite" but still a cute, fun read. Ironically, the plotting got out of hand towards the end, indicating this author perhaps would not have fared much better than the writers for FI's second season. For me, the bottom line was that I liked this story, these characters, and the writing better than many other self-published so-called lesbian/YA titles I've picked up lately. But I liked them in spite of rather than because of the plot - that much borrowing without calling it fan-fiction just made me uncomfortable. I would still try another title from this author, because I'd like to support her writing.

Faking It????
I have a weakness for Young Adult lesbian romance novels. I am really too old for them, but I wish they'd been around when I was a teenager. That would have been so wonderful. Maybe I'm re-imagining my youth by reading them. Anyway...This is a well-written story, much better than most of the self-published stuff one reads nowadays. It's a typical, but sweet, high-school romance between two best friends. There's a twist... and it's kind of fun so I won't spoil it here.I would give this story four or five stars, BUT..it's overly similar to a television series called "Faking It" on MTV. I don't feel comfortable calling it a rip-off, as it's not exactly identical... but... the similarities are there. I don't want to accuse the author of plagiarism or anything, because that particular plot-line isn't unique to either "Faking It" or "Dating Sarah Cooper." It's possible that the author had never seen "Faking It" when she wrote this book. They both came out in 2014 and I'm sure it took her time to write this book. So maybe it's just a coincidence.Hmmm... Hard to say. Well, if you like "Faking It," then you'll probably like this book too.

A good read - worth the time and money
This was cute. The writing wasn't bad and other than being frustrated by the protagonist at times, it's a sweet and easy read. The love interest (Sarah) was the most likable character, and we see enough of her to carry the story. PG as far as the romance goes, focussing on feelings more than descriptive sexual interplay (which is realistic for the ages of the characters), but satisfying for anyone who's had butterflies before and wants to reawaken them for a few hundred pages (or for a teen wondering what being with their best friend or a woman for the first time might be like). I would recommend it. My one suggestion though: skip the preface. It gives the entire book away and I do not understand the author's motive for including it. It should have been the last chapter, not the first.

Made me feel far too old
Rating (/5): 2.8Story thesis: High school best friends pretend to be lesbians after mistakenly being "outed". The farce leads one to actually examine her own sexuality but what will happen if their ruse is revealed!Age of protagonists: Both seniors in High school.Romance Arc: Fake romance followed by real feelings..that maybe unrequited.Lesbian status Starts out with 2 straight teenagers.Sex Scenes: No.Happy Ending: YesBest Feature of story: It's an ok story, and the two main characters are fairly well developed. Enough suspense about their relationship to keep you involved in the story.Worst Features of story It's very YA - feels like it's written by a teenager for a teenager both, in terms of both dialogue and drama(oh em gee). I didn't care much about the supporting cast at all.Any supernatural elements: No.Best suited for: Quick `no think' read.Recommend to: Teenagers ruminating on their sexuality.Would read other books by author, based on this one: No. I think I'm now too old. (High school as more than 10 years ago!)

Use this book to replace disappointment in that (shall not be named) TV series!
I enjoyed the story. It was better than the MTV story. There is a television series using the same premise but I think in the book it starts for a slightly different reason but the "faux" relationship is being used by one of the girls to attract the attention of a boy she has had an interest in for quite some time.It was a pretty light read. My only issue was the length of time it took for the girls to realize that they shared the same feelings. There are typos or some strange sentences but they were not frequent enough to get in the way of the story so I give it 5 stars since it delivers on what I was looking for - romance, love, and a bit of drama.

Solid book
I was without a book which is a situation I don't care for a bit, so I began looking at author's I liked in the past to see if I had missed anything and this came up. I was not in the mood for a YA, but this was an enjoyable read. The big talk with Katie's parents was humorous and original. Siera Maley has a nice writing style. Her books flow well and I like her characters.

Very cute
This reminded me of the show Faking It but with a way better ending. That was a very important show to me during my coming out process. I bet this book will help a lot of girls. I love the concept and the journey that Katie and Sarah unknowingly put themselves in.

Perfect if you need closure from Faking It.
This book is FRICKING AMAZING! Like seriously. The characters are amazingly written, with such depth of their emotions that is so easily relatable; being a gay woman I thought they really showed what it's like to realise you're gay, I mean it's bloody brutal sometimes! The story arch was just awesome, my heart about exploded! When it happened I swear my cheeks were on fire from this smile I kept.I recommend everyone to read it, like NOW! This author is just awesome; this is the second book I've read by her, purely by chance and I was not disappointed ONE BIT!Hot damn, this may be my new favourite book, favourite anything. Best two day obsession ever.

Great read
I really enjoyed this book, the humor in it was great, it honestly had me laughing at the banter between the characters.I liked the way the story developed and how the characters became aware of what they were feeling, it wasn't so black and white.

Cute, fluffy YA lesbian contemporary.
If you're looking for an lgbt book with a happy ending, I would definitely recommend this one. A super cute, fluffy YA lesbian contemporary. A happy ending and a super-duper shippable romance. I will be reading more of Siera Maley's books for sure.

Cool
Really interesting and very well written account of finding out who you are and how you fit in to the very tough and confusing world of adolescent life. Bad enough if you are heterosexual but what if you are gay, bi' or not sure what you are ! Well worth a read and a good reminder of how difficult it can all be.

Lovely
A really well written novel that reads from the first person perspective, this really helps to put yourself into the main characters shoes and allows the empathy to flow, making the story all the more real.
