Drawing With Pen and Ink And A Word Concerning The Brush

Classic Book for Drawing and Sketching, But Also Beware...
Arrived on time in great condition. This original edition has amazing detail compared to the updated version I bought on Kindle. Thankful I got it for such a good price. I like looking at the different ways artist used lines for shading and depicting form and texture. However be aware that there are images that are racist and sexist. Basically all the images of women and one person of color are negative stereotypes, not to mention the reoccurring theme of orientalism. I can see how current artist like Kara Walker uses this popular imagery of the past to tell the unpopular truth of about our history. It would be great if someone made an updated version with current artists using pen and ink both traditionally and digitally. So just remember this book for what it is and learn how imagery does have the power to shape and influence and perpetuate ideas good and bad....perhaps more than words.

not many books out today are on inking with pen. This book is for any illustrator that want to know the real art and use of pen and brush.

Really poor quality. Just a print of the PDF version of the original.
Literary Licensing, the publishing house, literally just prints for you the PDF version of the book that you can find on the internet. They did not print any information of their reprint. Asides from the cover and backcover you can not find their name anywhere within the book. The paper quality feels like your standard photocopy and most of the images show the shadows of the scan process. I would not mind if not for the price. It is a serviceable print of a great book, one that I wont mind highlight and underline, but really this feels so cheap. A more accurate rate from me would be to give this product 2 stars but I can't believe most of the reviews trully believe this is a 5 star product. They feel manufactured somehow (unless they recived a different product than me), and I would like to balance out the average. If I were you, I would just buy the kindle version to pay my dues and just print this on my low-end home printer for there is trully no difference in quality.
