🔋 Power your passion—record longer, create stronger.
The TASCAM External Battery Pack (BP-6AA) dramatically extends the DR-40X recorder’s battery life from 17.5 to over 50 hours by accommodating six AA batteries and delivering power via a USB to DC cable. It mounts easily to the recorder’s tripod connector, offering versatile, professional-grade power solutions for uninterrupted portable recording.

Essential accessory for anybody using phantom power!
If you use phantom power, you simply need an external power source. My experience, with powering a pair of Shure KSM141 mikes for a session, is there's barely enough juice to make it through a 1-1/2 to 2 hour session even with the builtin battery kicking in!Having said that - what they REALLY should do is just sell the USB to coaxial cable so you can use the gazillions of rechargeable battery packs out there for the cellphone market. I took courage and used the cable with my 20,000 mAh pack and it worked just fine - a 2 hour session used barely any capacity so the pack still showed a full 4 bars of charge.

Great poduct
A sell designed accessory fo multi purpose. I use to supply power to my Zoom QN2 and it works great, however with this ingenious effort it would be even more ingenious if thee was lithium rechargeable battery inside instead of using AA just put it li-ion in there 6000-23000 and it would be a powerful unit and last longer. Wish I was an engineer to do it. I hope Tascam thinks about it and then send one to me to test.....But great great product. The Zoom fits right on top which slides over the battery pack and load that on my camera bracket I can right to the field to live streaming without a problem.

awesome for both dr-60 and 100 mk II
although you'll need a short usb cable - they sell those here - to make it work with the Dr60, it's a great way to keep the batteries going. The 100 mk II works with it right out of the box, but I couldn't figure out which set of batteries it was using - internal aa, internal lithium or external bp6aa. a little cheaply made but what isn't and tascam is by far a better dar vs zoom.

Good for what it is, but not for what it's not - adds room for additional batteries...not a charger
This is still new to me. The main purpose of writing this now is to show the bulk it adds to the player (so people can decide whether they want it or not). But it depends on your usage.I got this and a remote after purchasing a DR-40 on Prime Day. I have a Dr-07 here and at work, but the DR-4o seemed to have a lot of nice features added. What this pack is..a storage place for 6 batteries that can be used via the mini usb cable (at least appears to be at first glance). The DR-40 takes 3 AA batteries, so this should give app 3 times the recording time total than with just the batteries in the DR-40. It doesn't charge batteries, it just extends the available number you have to work with as far as I see at first glance. This is better than having to change batteries at a concert or session. I also assume the phantom power (if used) would drain the batteries a good bit faster than without, so that is another reason for additional batteries. It does add a good deal of additional bulk and makes the recorder more unwieldy (although I suppose you could not screw it in and have it laying on a close table or chair (or get a longer cable). The included cable is a bit long if using the thumb screw, and not very long if wanting to have them further away separately. I presume a standard mini usb cable would work, but haven't doubled checked specs.I am including some pictures so people can see it in use with the DR-40 as it makes it app twice as thick. I also feel the price is a bit high for what it is, but I am sure Tascam makes their money on accessories like this and the remote sort of like test strips, printer cartridges etc. are to glucometers and printers. But, not totally as these are one time accessories and Tascam for sure makes more money on the initial unit (at least percentage wise) than the other devices. I also understand they don't sell as many accessories, so have to make a higher profit margin on them to pay to even make them.

Works as advertised.
I use this with my Zoom Q2n video recorder. It has a bracket with a screw so I can attach them. Works great! Note, the cord that came with it did not work for this purpose, but I already had a USB cord for my Zoom and it worked perfectly with this battery pack.

Works, but buy the Zoom 4 track recorder instead
This is an absolutely essential piece of crap. The batteries on the Tascam 4 track need to be constantly replaced... without this addition. Ask me how I know? But this is a badly designed after thought. It does the job, but inconveniently and there are no easy substitutes.

Tascam Battery Pack
So far, I actually haven't needed to use this battery pack, but I'm really glad I have it now. This will give me more options with my DR-40 if I want to record longer sessions using the 48v phantom power for my Rode NTG1, when there isn't an outlet close by. This option is a no brainer for videographers.

Easier to change batteries!
Frees you from having to change batteries twice a day! With camera, a microphone, a video recorder, and a Digital display, we were taking way to much valuable time changing batteries in the unit. Probably going to buy a second unit, so that we can switch even faster!
