Mercedes R350 works perfectly and DIY
Just a note that you do not need to remove the headlamp assembly or anything else to replace the xenon low beam lamps on an R350. You do not have to disconnect the battery. Just turn the lights off. Wear latex gloves to protect the new bulb from skin oil. Also note that there are three headlamp configurations 1. The standard 12V incandescent 2. The Bi-Xenon gas discharge lamps (these use an igniter that comprises the bulb socket) 3. The Bi-xenon headlamps with the "Aktives Kurvenlicht" that track the road as the vehicle turns. The incandescents are easy. The xenons are just a bit tricky. The key to replacing any of the Xenon low beams is either having done it before or having visualized and studied the orientation of the igniter and bulb before removing. Use good lighting and possibly reading glasses and a mirror if you are over 50! Do the driver side first, it is much easier to visualize.Once you have rotated and removed the access door to the headlamp assemble, you will be able to visualize the components. Rotating the igniter assembly on the back of the lamp counter clockwise (where the perspective is from the driver seat) turns a cam that pushes the electrical connector off the assembly, essentially depowering the unit.. This is so there is no chance of getting a 20Kv shock from the igniter. There are two sprung wire clips that retain the bulb in the reflector housing that must be released to get the bulb out. The wires remain on the housing, they don't come off. Once released the bulb comes out easily. Memorize the orientation of the bulb before and as you remove it observing the plastic base. Proper reinsertion and orientation is critical and Its not entirely intuitive. In case you forget to look first, on the driver side, the igniter electrical pin out is on the top of the igniter and the connector releases toward the engine compartment. On the passenger side the pins are on the bottom of the igniter and the connector releases as well toward the engine compartment. When you twist the igniter to release it from the back of the bulb, the connector will be ejected as you turn the bulb. After replacing the bulb and replacing the igniter on the reflector housing, you will turn the igniter clockwise and the lever that ejects the connector will slide back into the housing allowing you to reconnect power connector to the igniter.I did the driver side first and it took about 45 minutes, mostly because I did not pay close attention to the orientation of the igniter and I had to use trial and error to get it in properly. When everything is aligned, the igniter easily turns and clicks into place with German precision, no force required. The passenger side took 14 minutes that included some fumbling with the bulb.

Great Bulb & Great Price for 2007 STi
I replaced my bulbs right before writing this review so this information was fresh at the time of writing. 1/27/13Car: 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STiBack Story:My driver side bulb went pink/purple one day, a sign the bulb was about to die, then it did. I ordered a pair of these as a direct OEM replacement for the original bulbs. Packaging is standard for any bulbs. Bulbs were intact and still inside the original packaging. No problems at all.Bulbs:The bulbs came is just as stated in this box (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61jdr1Bxr4L.jpg). The box stats bulbs are D2S 85122, and the bulbs inside are 85122. The packaging is correct and I received exactly what I ordered. They are NOT 85122+ as this is the older model.Model Difference between 85122 & 85122+:There are some mixed reviews on here regarding the model numbers and the differences. My original bulbs in the STi were 85122+, these display white with a hint of blue on the top of the beam. The ones I received in this order are 85122, these display white with a hint of yellow, they are also a lot brighter. This is the opposite of what the top reviewer has stated. They are both Made in Germany and fit exactly the same.Notes:If you've never done an bulb swap the most important thing to know is; don't touch the glass with your bare hands, the oils in your hands will cause these bulbs to prematurely die. Use gloves or be extra careful.2006-2007 STi specifics:In the STi the 2 notches have to align at the 12 o'clock position, and the ballast wire points to the side of the car, (it is horizontal, not vertical). There is a mini screw behind the ground wire (don't lose that thing!), use a small phillips screwdriver, don't just try to yank it out. You will need to take out your battery and the intake air divert-er thing (not airbox). Easy.

Deserves 10 Stars!
Buying this bulb from Amazon is one of the most gratifying purchases I've ever made! My 2008 VW R32 shares most non-drivetrain components with the VW GTI. A few years ago the driver side headlamp was replaced under warranty. The invoice listed the labor of removing the front bumper cover. My passenger side headlamp just failed. I hoped to replace it myself. My local Advance Auto Parts had a bulb for $106. My VW dealer wanted almost $200 for it. Many thanks to information on other reviews here, I found a YouTube video detailing bulb removal and reinstallation. After viewing it, I was able to remove and reinstall the bad bulb in a matter of minutes without removing anything but the back cover on the lamp housing. Zero tools were required. This gave me the confidence to order this bulb from Amazon. I removed the old one and installed the new one in just a couple of minutes. It looks exactly like the original and works perfectly. For less than $40 I accomplished what would've cost 2.5x more if I went to a chain store, 5x more than the dealer, and likely close to 10x more if I had the job done by the dealer. If you get any gratification from moderately easy DIY projects, and from being a smart shopper, getting this replacement bulb from Amazon is about as good as it gets.
