Many things to love about these!
I ordered these back in September 2015 and have used them over time. I, like some other reviewers, am making the change over to silicone kitchen accessories. I keep these tongs, with many other tools, in a glass pitcher that sits on my countertop, in order to access them quickly when needed. Though none of my kitchen decor is red, these blend in nicely while adding just enough pop of color. The red is a deep red and does not interrupt my color scheme. This is important for those like me who care about things matching in the kitchen. As pictured, the set comes with a large and small pair. The rubber grip on the handles is a welcomed change from the feel of both my silver and wood tongs. They have an impression where my thumb and first finger naturally rest, and that makes them even more comfortable. I have ceased using both my other pairs, because this set seems to meet all of my needs when it comes to tongs. The wooden ones do not give, and are a pain when they are not wide enough for what I am trying to grab. The silver ones are a bit too wide, and not as easy to control without the silicon handles. Not to mention, they scratch my good pots. What I like about the smaller pair is that they fit and feel almost like an extension of my hand. I am petite - 4'11", 112 lbs and I have small hands. These were a very pleasant surprise for me. I also like that they still extend wide enough to grab something like, say, a chicken leg or thigh yet they close so smoothly that they are easily squeezed to grab something small like a scallop or sauteed veggies. I don't know the real purpose behind the scalloped edges, but I find that because of them, they are more flexible and with them being rubber, they don't have a problem picking up what you intend to pick up. These are my go-to tongs for small or few things, or when I need precise control (like when cooking a delicate fish or sauteing veggies). Lastly, the smaller pair is great if you have any kid chefs in your home. They are small enough for them to handle and learn how to be efficient with them. The second pair is larger, but not too large for my small hands to control. The silicone handles are the saving grace for that. These are my go-to tongs when I am cooking larger or more things, like a whole cut up chicken. They open even wider than the small pair, so I am able to pick up a half roasted chicken successfully and with control. Both pair of tongs lock using the small circle on the end. Pull it out, they lock, push it in, they unlock. The only downside for me is that because I keep them in a pitcher, when I shove them down into it, they sometimes unlock and fling open when the circle hits the pitcher bottom. Though this is not a defect of the tongs, it is because of my personal storage choice.I did not pay attention to the cleaning instructions, but I have washed these in the dishwasher regularly (on the top shelf) for the last three months, and have not had any issues. They come out clean with no water stains on the silver. These would make a great addition to anyone's kitchen.

Excellent Quality and Value, 100% Satisfaction Guarantee
I hated our old black fiberglass-reinforced nylon tongs, which had no locking mechanism and didn't grip foods securely, and rarely used them, reaching instead for my stainless steel locking tongs with scallop-edge pincers and trying to avoid letting the metal tongs inadvertently touch, and potentially scratch, my nonstick-coated pans. So, when we decided to buy two sets of Copper Chef Black Diamond nonstick pans (which are awesome) to replace our old nonstick cookware, I decided to look for some silicone-tipped tongs to protect our new investment.I own several OXO Good Grips kitchen gadgets and utensils and like them, so my first inclination was to buy their silicone-coated scalloped locking tongs. But when the pretty teal color of the silicone on these StarPack Premium tongs caught my eye and I saw that they had thousands of 5-star reviews, I decided to take a closer look. The price of these was significantly lower than the ones I had intended to get, and I liked the idea of having two pairs of tongs, so one would be available even when the other was in the dishwasher. I appreciated the thoroughness of the description and other information on the Amazon product page, and I prefer buying from family-owned companies, as well as businesses that have enough confidence in their products' performance to offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. My husband and I really enjoy using these kitchen tongs, and often choose them even when we're cooking in pans without a nonstick coating. Plain scalloped stainless steel locking tongs grip more securely than those coated with silicone, since the sharp metal scallops "bite" into the food a bit. But the lack of sharp edges also makes the silicone-coated tongs safer to use, as well as much quicker and easier to clean. And when I'm pan-frying just a few breakfast sausages in a small skillet, for example, I prefer the shorter pair of tongs, although both pairs are very comfortable to use and thoughtfully designed. The locking mechanism is extremely smooth and easy to operate (although it does require two hands). To open the locked tongs, push in the silicone-coated ring. To lock them again, pull the ring out. (Don't pull hard!) Being able to unlock and lock these tongs with very little force is a significant benefit for people (like me) who don't have much grip strength. We've been extremely pleased with the quality of both the materials and the manufacturing. Highly recommended!

Love these!
I got a bunch of these sets of silicone cooking utensils when I got married. That was 4 years ago and these are the only ones I'll cook with now. They are so much better than their plastic counterparts. They don't melt at high heat, and are crazy easy to clean. The only wear and tear after four years in the silicone ring at the bottom, and that's because I bang that part on my counter to release the tongs.

Favorites!
Hands down, my favorite cooking tools are my StarPack tools. I use them every day. I could not function without my spatula-spoon. Highly recommended!

Great use for 2.5 years - bubble/melting silicone
Very good tongs. I use these for everything from tossing a salad to cooking. The silicone started to bubble and the silicone grips started to split and congeal/melt about 6 months ago. I would not recommend use over 300 degrees F as that's when I noticed tong grips softening/melting (when I mixed or turned items in the oven). I will try out the highly rate OXO tongs for replacements which are comparable in price.

Sturdy, and well made
Bought the long tongs primarily for the air fryer, the smaller ones are a bonus, they are very well made and sturdy, the spring action makes them easy to handle
