Yes and yes. I think i used literally ALL the pieces in this set short of the LONG straights, pun intended. i think BigJigs needs to release a boxed set of short curves only. That would be awesome. The set here was really just a right combination of different sizes.

My son has the Thoma's Train rail set, but I am unable to purchase rail extensions and curves in south Africa, and bought these as get fit together. I would definitely recommend this pack to anyone with any type of wooden rail system.

Great price but slightly awkward fit sometimes
Looks hand cut, which is kinda cool, but have a slightly awkward fit sometimes. A little wonky in some places and a little too tight in others. You can see the saw marks where they cut too far in on some of the jig saw joints. Looks like they're still made of oak but have a slightly more rough finish than the more expensive tracks such as the Melissa and Doug set but wouldn't hesitate to buy these again.Edit: Have had for a few months and one of the pieces splintered after a chunk split off. Not sure how the kiddo did it but when I was looking at it I noticed one of chunks of wood basically just fell apart. Kind of a naturan wood thing and not a big deal, but a splinter would be kind of not cool. Still a good price tho.
