I have used Nioxin Cleanser, System 1 (which is for fine/Untreated/Normal to Thin hair). My hair is "untreated". I have always had baby fine hair. Also, my hair is on the oily side and anything will make it bog down and oily. This product does not make my hair do either of these two things. With my hair being untreated, I have always relied on "product" and Velcro rollers for uplift (I am very careful about taking the Velcro rollers out of my hair due to breakage). Unfortunately as a lot of women get older their hair gets thinner. I happen to fall into that category. Also I WAS having problems with it breaking off. I discovered this shampoo about six years ago. I used it steady for about three years. My hair quit breaking off and it looked and felt SO much healthier. I stopped using it for a few months thinking..."I will just buy OTC shampoo for a while". BIG MISTAKE!!!.... The next trip to my hairdresser she said that my hair was breaking off. She even asked if I was doing something different to my hair. I told her that I had stopped using my regular shampoo and I proceeded to tell her the name of it. She started raving about how good of a product it was. So I came home and ordered another bottle. I always order the 33.8 ounce and it lasts me for months. I mean like 6 months. And all you have to use is a dime size. I also am a everyday shampoo'er. Although I do not find that this is by no means a product that promises to make hair thicker... It does help with the over all problems for what it says... "Fine/untreated/normal to Thin hair"... I only have tried the Shampoo. I have not tried the other products that you can use with it... which is why the word "system" is in the name.....BUT! I am going to try in the near future. And when I do I will give an update on my review. Also, this shampoo has a peppermint / menthol feel to it on your scalp (only while you are soaped up. Not after you rinse). It also has a very pleasant smell. So bottom line...It is what it is and that is a GREAT SHAMPOO!!! UPDATE... they changed the formula it now makes my head itch. Just as well buy OTC shampoo for the same effect. Very Very sad because I have been using this product for years.

This is an excellent shampoo. It's expensive, but it does an excellent job. I've been using it for years. What it will not do: -Grow your hair back. -Stop your hair from falling out. It 'may' possibly slow hair loss. I'm skeptical on this though. What it will do: -Add volume to your hair -Get your hair clean, really clean -Does not seem to damage hair I have some hair loss, but I didn't buy this to solve that problem. I really don't care about that. In my search for quality products, my search stopped here. It gets your hair clean without drying it out like cheap shampoos do. It will restore volume to your hair as opposed to flat, boring hair. And it works if you have bad/hard water. While it is expensive, it doesn't take much and will last a long time. The ultimate test was my mother (>70 yrs). Her hair has been looking like a trampled mat for the last few years. I asked her to try it. She did and it worked wonders. TL;DR - This won't grow your hair back, but it's a damn good shampoo.

I used it for the first time yesterday and must say I am pleased so far, and will be updating a month from now about my overall experience w this shampoo. I will say right off the back that the olaplex bond maintenance shampoo led to so much breakage after one use, and an irritated scalp, but with Nioxin, my hair feels stronger and my scalp is less irritated so far! Considering the size of the bottle and what this shampoo supposedly does, I would say it is worth the money compared to the high end shampoos that don’t seem to work as well but cost a fortune for a little bottle!

Great size of bottle for the price: I paid more for this at the hairdresser for a smaller bottle. My hair definitely feels thicker after using it, I only wash my hair 2-3 days to get the most out of it. I use this shampoo on recommendation of my hairdresser as I have very thin and fine hair and I have an oily scalp (for those with similar issues I was discouraged from using conditioner and heat styling accessories at every wash, just every so often to help with the fine limp hair). I try and wash my hair as little as possible to 're-train' my scalp, but it definitely feels thicker, its lovely and clean when washed (I'm talking genuinely squeeky clean) and have a lovely minty smell. Recommend the big bottle you get more for your money.
