Essential item for Peloton cycle experience using cheap stationary bike
The media could not be loaded. I bought this TAOPE Ant+ Bluetooth Bike Speed Cadence Sensor for my “Peloton hack.” project to get the Peloton cycle experience using cheap stationary bike+ cadence sensor + Wahoo app+ Peloton Digital app. During class, Peloton instructors yell out what your “cadence” should be. having a cadence sensor is essential. So I bought this TAOPE sensor, which is far cheaper than Wahoo sensor, but surprisingly it can be recognized by Wahoo app.

Very capable, connectible, affordable unit for speed
I seldom ever give a product a five star review, but this unit exceeded my expectations and enabled me to get more value from my Sunny Spin Bike (BC1002) with the 49lb fly wheel. I've owned the Wahoo cadence and Tickr sensors for years, which work with the bike, but I've long wanted a sensor to measure distance. Wahoo doesn't support its speed sensor on exercise bikes, which meant that I needed to find a non-Wahoo one. Well-packaged, the sensor arrived in great shape. Setup was a snap. The most pleasant surprise was how quickly the Wahoo Fitness and Strava apps recognized and connected with the sensor. I attached the sensor just above the hub of the flywheel with velcro, waited a few hours for the adhesive to set, then got on the bike, pedaled a few times to wake up the sensor, and I began clocking distance and speed. The Wahoo Fitness app allows you to input wheel circumference. I calculated mine by measuring the wheel's diameter (18" approx.) then multiplied by pi to get circumference in inches, and then multiplied by 25.4 to convert the circumference to millimeters. Wahoo's app provides a table of wheel sizes, I picked one that was close to my measurement. For my spinning needs, ballpark results are good enough for speed and distance. I'm more particular about heart rate and cadence. Although I prefer Wahoo Fitness, other available fitness apps provide similar functionality. All told, my kludged collection of Wahoo and Taope sensors, combined with the Wahoo Fitness app, enabled me to turn my dumb spin bike into an intelligent one, supplying data I want at an extremely reasonable price.

Great Product For My Stationary Cycle
Bought 2 of these for 1 stationary cycle. Taped 1 to flywheel using double-sided tape tape acting as a speed sensor. Mounted other on pedal arm acting as cadence sensor. Both sensors connecting to my Garmin Instinct through Ant+ with no issues and no disruptions. Now my "Bike Indoor" activity records speed, distance, and cadence stats. I have a speedo on my stationary cycle that I referenced to calibrate the speed sensor on my Instinct watch by adjusting the wheel size within the watch's sensors settings. The instructions are easy to follow to set the sensor to be either a speed or a cadence sensor. Battery that comes with product is good. I am very happy with this product because it is working great with my Garmin watch using Ant+, it is accurate, it is reliable and it comes at a fraction of the price of similar products.

Easy to connect, and effective
Update: upon further research I was able to connect the sensor and use it for speed. I was initially trying to set it up under the general Stava app settings, but I now know that you need to go to the record screen and connect the device in these settings. I found out because I ended up purchasing the Garmin speed and cadence original combo and quickly discovered that they do not work with Bluetooth. The new Garmin speed 2 works with Bluetooth but it is pointless purchasing the $70 combo when you can only connect one sensor to tour phone at a time. On the other hand you can connect both of those or any other compatible sensor to a bike computer. I am returning the Garmin and keeping this one az it is effective, easy to connect and cost much less...This does not work with Strava app but they have advertisements even in the instructions saying that it does. Worthlessness

Works as advertised
The instructions, though sparse, were clear enough to get the sensor setup in Strava without issues. It helps to spin your crank manually when pairing so that the sensor can wake up and be seen by bluetooth.Physical installation was simple on my crank.I did not try this on speed mode, just cadence mode. I've never used a cadence sensor before but see the image for the results in Strava. The parts where cadence is zero are where I was approaching a stop sign, so that makes sense. An average of roughly one pedal per second seems like it's accurate on my casual morning commute.I just installed it today, so I can't speak to the battery life.

Did not work with any fitness apps (Wahoo, Strava, MapMyRide, Ride with GPS)
It paired up with my phone from both the settings page and the apps themselves. When I started a workout, a big N/A showed up in place of the sensor reading of cadence. Reinstalled the battery multiple times, to make sure it wasn't acting as a speed sensor. Closed the app and restarted it. Restarted the phone. By the way, the battery installation was really difficult too. I have used the wahoo cadence sensor for over 3 years, no problems. I wanted another cadence sensor so I didn't have to switch the sensor between bikes. I returned this one, and paid an extra $20 to get another Wahoo sensor.

Works most of the time - at first, then doesn't work most of the time
When it works, it works. Sometimes it does not connect to the Edge 530 right away, but that may be a problem with the Edge 530. Once connected, it is consistent.UPDATE: now it switches randomly to speed sensor, which totally messes up the Edge 530 data.I tried to contact Taope through Amazon about this, but no response. So it is going in the garbage even though it is in warranty.

So far very impressed!!
Sick of Garmin brand cadence sensors failing after battery replacement, I figured I'd give this one a try. Ant+ pairs easily with Garmin 800, Vivoactive HR and Zwift (on PC with Ant+ dongle). Very impressed so far, hopefully it lasts. Can't speak to Bluetooth connections, but at $20 bucks I'll be picking up a couple more for my Mountain and Trail bikes.

Battery Vore
Easy to flip between cadence or speed, easy to install. Connected to bike computer no issues. Provides distance and speed when the GPS signal is poor.Update: after using mine for a while I've decided to decrease the score. The battery life, as advertised at 320h standby, isn't great. Even if it did last the advertised rate, that's only 2 weeks. Comparable sensors, like Wahoo's, advertise up to 12mo of stand by. If you get these you'll have to subscribe to button batteries as well because these things will devour them. 26 batteries a year vs 1. Whatever you save buying these you'll waste in battery costs.

IT DOES NOT WORK ON ZWIFT app.
I inquired first before I purchased this item if it is compatible with the "Zwift app". they said, "Yes". To my discovery after I used it, it is incompatible. IT DOES NOT WORK ON SPEED MONITORING. So, what is the point of using it? I want to be fair to everyone but I was really disappointed.😞😞😞

Superior battery life and connectivity for zwift
Works on zwift with AppleTV or via zwift companion. Device goes to sleep and doesn’t transmit until you move the sensor. I like that you can strap it to the crank instead of glue as per the wahoo sensor, which would prove to be an incredibly expensive “wahoops...”

The best tracker for the price for speed or cadence
I just started cycling and wanted to be able to quantify my efforts. As i'm a beginner, I did not want to spend a lot of money initially for that purpose. So i found this one that is compatible with any devices, bluetooth or ANT. There is the two type of function available, cadence or speed!Pros:- Easy to install for speed or cadence- Compatible with many devices- cheap!Cons:- cannot do speed and cadence at the same time, but it's normal!
