Seems Reliable So Far
The device seems to be working as intended so far. Hopefully, it will protect my expensive electronics if a surge ever happens. It’s reassuring to have this protection in place, even though I haven’t had to test it under extreme conditions yet.

As expected

Everyone Should Have One
I have one of these in my home, and I install these for other people as well. After living in a house that got hit by lightning every two years, I got tired of the damage that always followed. I haven't had any damage from lightning surges since installing this which is why I recommend some form of whole house surge suppression for everyone.Everything now has computer chips and boards in them and many of the things you wouldn't think about putting a surge suppressor on, you can't. A stove or dryer are 240V appliances. Do you have a 240 Volt - 50 Amp surge strip for these appliances with chips in them? Of course not which is why you need a whole house surge suppressor. Even your toaster and coffee pot has a chip. You need this surge breaker! It's your first line of defense. To install this surge breaker, open the panel and assess which side would be the easiest to install it on closest to the main breaker. If there is no room, you can make room by purchasing 2 tandem breakers and replacing 4 single pole breakers with the 2 tandem breakers. This will give you 2 slots to install the surge breaker. Once you have slid the breakers down on one side of the panel and/or installed the 2 tandems, the breaker will snap into place. There is a single white wire that comes off of the breaker that is hooked into the neutral bar. Insert the white wire in the neutral bar, replace the cover and you're done. Typical installation time is 10 minutes. If you're not comfortable working inside the panel and/or have no experience working on a "LIVE" panel, then call an electrician to do the job for you. This breaker only fits Square D QO panels. If you have a Square D Homeline panel, then you want to purchase the HOM2175SB instead of the QO2175SB.

Doesn't fit older panels
It seems to be a good surge protector, although fortunately I haven't had to put it to the test yet. But it didn't quite fit into my panel. Maybe it's an older panel (early '70s?) but the divider between phases was too wide on my panel for the slot in the surge protector. I had to carve out the slot in the surge protector to fit into the panel. Otherwise it would have been an easy installation.

These work in the older Square D and Homeline panels, as well as the new ones
I think this is a new or redesigned product as they work in the older panels. My home was built in 1988 and I had previously purchased Square D whole house surge protectors for inside the panels, but the connections would not work with my panels. There was no indication that they would not work except for in the big product catalog. When I found these I verified there was no such warning in the catalog for this part number. Installed the first one today. Now ready to order for the second panel. My installation took about 20 minutes. Don't forget to de-energize the panel before you work on it.

Doesn’t actually fit
Doesn’t fit over bar, doesn’t fully engage bus bars. Got it finagled in, but it’s not correct for a brand new Square D QOC panel. Pretty frustrating. Broke case so can’t send back, but it’s not the right thing.
