I love it! Highland Wolf Pact is the first release in Selena Kitt's paranormal/historical romance series and I must say, she totally blew me away! I was completely captivated from beginning to end! I fell head over heels in love with this remarkable saga in Book One and have been held completely and totally under its spell. Kitt skillfully weaves a wonderfully imaginative web enveloping us with the magic and fantasy of the story, its history and its characters. I have always loved both paranormal and historical romance but when you combine the two and factor in that it's written by Selena Kitt, well, you have utter perfection. I now have this overwhelming desire to travel to Scotland so that I, myself, may experience the rich history, majestic beauty, powerful magic and fantastical wonderment so naturally inherit of this mystically reverent land. Sigh..... So dreamy..... The story is riveting, enchanting, imaginative, well crafted, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sweet, romantic, sensual and arousing. And did I say hot and dreamy? Oh yes! Very hot and very dreamy! Sigh.... These are only a few of the words that come to mind after reading this story. The narrative is written in the third person from the heroine's point of view. The dialogue is smart, authentic, exceptionally well executed and flows effortlessly, so much so, it's almost lyrical. I was totally mesmerized. And the characters, well, let's just say they are the heart and the soul of the story. They are fascinating, engaging, endearing, well developed and sexy as sin! Oh my! They grab your attention, capture your heart and hold you prisoner from beginning to end. Kitt skillfully combines these elements into a delightfully entertaining paranormal/historical romance filled to the brim with danger, drama, action, adventure, suspense, magic, destiny, passion and sweet romance. If you love reading sexy paranormal romance and enchanting historical love stories, then this is definitely the book for you. Beautiful Englishwoman Lady Sibyl Blackthorne was taught by her dear sweet father, Robert Blackthorne to fear nothing and no one but her latest predicament in life seems to be a wee bit more than even she can handle. After her father's death, her mother remarried her uncle, Godfrey Blackthorne who has literally sold her in marriage to a man she doesn't know and never met. No matter how well she rides, tracks and hunts, which is very well indeed, her uncle feels she's good for little else other than marriage. Oh no! Oh yes! She has most definitely been promised in marriage to none other than Alistair MacFalon, laird of clan MacFalon and warden of the Middle March in Scotland and little does Sibyl know that she was destined to become a MacFalon bride long before she was even born. Huh? Oh yes, King Henry and Alistair's father, Lachlan MacFalon, made an agreement many years ago. If the MacFalons helped him win his war, he promised them a fine English bride of noble blood and there were finer or more noble than a Blackthorne. Originally, the MacFalons were promised her uncle's daughter but she unfortunately died, so that only left Sibyl and now it was left to her to fulfill her family's obligation. There's only one little problem - she has no intention of marrying the sinister and cruel Alistair MacFalon. What? Oh no! She's planning her escape but runs into quite a large snag while out on the hunt with Alistair and his men. They've captured a pregnant white wolf and intend to viciously slaughter the animal and Sibyl has no intention of letting that happen. She releases the wolf from its cage, shoots Alistair in the hand pinning him to a tree and tries to make her escape but runs into quite a wall while trying to make her escape, albeit a quite handsome Scottish wall named Raife. And he wants Lady Sibyl for his own! Huh? Oh yes! But there's another little problem - the white wolf isn't really a wolf and Raife isn't really a man! Huh? Will Lady Sibyl escape or will she be captured and forced into a unholy prearranged marriage with The MacFalon? Or will her heart be captured and her spirit tamed by a Wulver? And will there be an all out war as a result? Oh my goodness! Absolutely Magnificent!

Sybil the rebellious Lady Blackthorne grew up with a loving father and doting father where she was always the center of his attention. Even though born a girl her father taught her all the ways of a boy. To hunt, ride, use a bow, but she was still a girl and her only purpose in life was to marry and produce an heir. After her father suddenly dies she finds herself entangled in a web of deceit when her mother marries her uncle and she is sold to a Scottish Laird to ease the tension between England and Scotland along the border. You see even back then Politics played a huge role in women’s lives and Sybil cannot escape her fate of being used as a pawn. But can she dutifully fulfill her role? She is bound and determined not to marry a man she doesn’t love, a man that only wants her to parade her around as his prim and proper English bred conquest. No way, no how, she has made a plan and she will get away from this tyrant. She would rather be on the run as to succumb to his filthy hands on her. So she does just that but what she finds in the wilds of the woods was not what she was expecting. Raife, the leader of the Wulvers, a clan of shape shifting human/wolf people living in a den carved out deep in a mountain is only trying to keep peace between his people and the humans. His father long ago made a pact with the King and the Scottish Laird that they would live in peace separately of course but each respecting the other’s quiet solitude upon the marriage of an English high born girl to the Scottish Laird. But when Raife hears of the Laird taking an English bride his curiosity overwhelms his good sense and he has to gaze upon her. Once he does, he’s totally besotted and thinks she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. One day he is forced to go look for one of his own that has gone missing he stumbles upon the upcoming bride Sybil, and a sight that tore his heart out. His own, one of his wolf’s has been captured and put in a cage to be murdered and put on display by the Laid which in turn will break the twenty year pact. But he finds this woman risking her own life to set his wolf free from her bonds and at the same time holding her husband to be at the mercy of her arrow. He makes her an offer she can’t refuse. From here the ride begins and the sparks fly. These two are drawn to one another and their love will not be denied. Each one having their own inner battles with the differences between them one being human the other half human half wolf, they turn against the pull of their hearts. This book although a short story was a great read. I loved the characters of Sybil and Raife. Sybil is a strong young woman only wanting to have a say in her life, to find her own way and make her own choices. She dreams of a love marriage, not one of convenience like so many before her. Raife the leader of his pack has not taken a mate yet, he’s more concentrated on making sure his warriors are ready for any conflict that might befall his people. The author tells her story quickly and introduces her characters as they appear to her and the story line. Even the sub-characters are likeable. They is action, there is intimacy and some twists, enough that will keep you immersed in the story till the end.

19895864 Mom23greatboys's review Jun 23, 2016 · edit it was amazing bookshelves: free, paranormal-romance, highland, shifters, 200-300-pgs-regular-size Read from June 22 to 23, 2016 — I own a copy I've pretty much loved Selena Kitt's books but she usually writes very spicy books that may not be for everyone. This book though could be read by a much broader audience. There's only one sex scene and it is not nearly as explicit as some of her books- though there is mention of a rape it is not detailed. The story itself is well written, the world building is interesting and the characters are ones you can respect and care about. This paranormal historical romance is set in the very early 1500's in the border lands between England and Scotland. I don't want to give too much away because there are some great twist and turns to the story. "Proper" Englishwoman Sybil is being forced to marry Scotsman Alistair Macfalon by her uncle as well as the King. Sybil is a great character. She's not the typical "proper" Englishwoman. She prefers riding astride and using her bow rather than needlework and acting the simpering female. The hero of the story is Raif, a wulver. Together they must avoid a war and possibly find the "cure" for how female wulvers have no control of their shifting. The is a sequel to this book but this book definitely could work as a stand alone. I can't wait to read more about this couple and world. Heat level is 6 (1=Christian, 5=fade to black and 10= erotica).

It was a really nice story and even the place Scotland and time 16th hundret in which the story takes place is great, but somehow something was missing. It felt not as fluid as it should have been and the character of the female protagonist was a little annoying. And the whole transformation thing half wolf / half man thing was kind of weird. After all I'm giving this book 3,5 stars, because the slow development of the main characters was charming and the whole idea behind it was nice. It's an easy read and for a few days of head break...absolutly good enough.

Oh this is a fantastic story. Absolutely loved it. Red haired Sybil and blue eyed Wolf man Raife. There is so much passion in everything, the clans, people, life. The characters were strong, loyal and passionate . So much going on so I can only say this "A fantastic not to be missed read"

I'm a little in shock right now with how amazing this book was! I love how Selena Kitt is branching off and trying something new (love the longer reads).A highland romance with a spunky spirited heroine and a sexy drool worthy werewolf hero! The sex scenes and chemistry made my apartment temperature go up a few degrees! I hope she continues to write books like this!

Two of my favourites, Scottish Highlanders and shapeshifters, how could I go wrong! This story had all of the elements of a highlander romance such as the strong, independent young woman being promised to a highland laird to create alliances between the English and Scots. This highland laird, Alistar MacFalon, only wants Sibyl to show off to male members of his clan and to own her once they're married. Sibyl wants nothing to do with Alistar and his mean and controlling ways as he doesn't want a spirited and capable wife, he just wants a pretty object to own. Sibyl decides she must escape even though it means she can't go back to her old life and must make it on her own. The opportunity arises when Alistar takes her along on a wulver hunt and allows her to take a bow and arrow when he never has in the past. Alistar explains that wulvers are men and women who can change into wolves but Sybil thinks it's likely just a myth until he shows her one that's been captured in a cage for Alistar to kill and pretend he did it on his own. Sybil lets the wulver out of the cage and shoots Alistar in the arm pinning him to a tree. She starts to make her escape when a sexy, hot highlander comes to her rescue and offers to get her away from Alistar. Raife and Sibyl have an instant attraction but he is the head of the wulver's and must think of his pack first. A fun and enjoyable story full of suspense, action and romance!
