Last Stop on the Reindeer Express: An Interactive Christmas Book for Kids and Toddlers

Great Christmas story for those spending it apart from family.
I purchased this book to read to my 2.5 & 4.5yr old boys before Christmas. They have LOVED the beautiful illustrations, pages with doors that open, and overall magic of the storyline, and have begged to read it over and over. The story follows a little girl named Mila who writes a Christmas letter to her Grandpa who lives far away. She wants to mail it to him for Christmas, but there isn't enough time. When she steps through a magical door that leads to the Reindeer Express at market while out shopping with her mother, she is thrilled to learn she is not the only child who doesn't get to spend Christmas with her whole family. She takes a ride on a magical reindeer to deliver her letter to her grandfather who lives across the world, and when she returns home, it's as if no time has passed at all. Such a heartwarming story for anyone who doesn't get to spend Christmas together with loved ones.

Lovely book to add to our holiday collection
Beautiful illustrations. The storyline is of a young girl who misses her grandfather and stumbles upon a magical reindeer who takes her to him. The girl’s mother is portrayed as a single mother, and grandpa lives alone. It is presumed that the girl doesn’t have any siblings. It is nice to see an only child with a single mother portrayed in a holiday book. The peek-through pages are cute, but the pages are very thin and my 4-year old tends to turn them a little rough. I am worried it won’t hold up for the long haul. I wish the pages were printed on a slightly thicker paper stock or coated to be more durable.

Gorgeous book, great story.
This is a beautiful book, the illustrations and peek through aspect are stunning. Yes, this book is great for families who are apart, but also is great for families with grandparents who have passed. My daughter and I read this as the cabin being in heaven, which is why she doesn’t recognize it. It’s a touching story and we love it year round.

Take a Ride On the Reindeer Express...You Won’t Be Disappointed!
As much as I love Christmastime, it can be challenging being away from my extended family. Last Stop on the Reindeer Express written by Maudie Powell-Tuck and illustrated by Karl James Mountford (Doubleday Book for Young Readers, 2017) is the perfect book to share with children who are missing loved ones during the holiday season.Mia is struggling with the fact that her grandfather will not be around for Christmas. She makes him a card but is heartbroken to learn that it won’t reach him before the holiday…that is until Mia discovers a magical mailbox which transports her on a truly fantastical journey! This delightful story is paired with beautifully imaginative illustrations! Nearly every page has a door to open or a cut-out to peek through. Every time we read the book my son is totally engaged and cannot wait to see what is behind each door! We look forward to accompanying Mia on her voyage for years to come!

Great for families who aren’t together during the holiday
Great for any family that’s separated or apart during the holidays.Basically about a little girl who lives just with her mom. She misses her grandpa and this book is about her journey to see him, with the realization at the end...that even if you’re not with those you love during the holidays you can still keep them close to your heart.
