My daughter has been en pointe for a few years now. As with all pointe or demi pointe shoes she was used to regular satin ribbon that is sold with a pair of shoes. When she learned about stretch ribbon she wanted to give it a try. Another dancer told her she would either love it or hate it and that she didn't like the stretch ribbon. I ordered Bloch from Amazon and the rest is history. I don't think my daughter will ever go back to regular satin ribbon. First of all, if you've never used stretch ribbon and you sew your own shoes, do not cut the ribbon in half! Measure the first piece thr length you need and then cut. I say this because the first time I cut it in half and then realized there would have been enough ribbon for 1 more shoe (3 shoes at least). That's a lot of waste. As for my dancer, she loves the stretch ribbon. There is no tying involved, no ribbon coming undone on stage, no messy hairspray on her legs because she needed to spray the ribbon to hold. She is able to quickly put her pointe shoes on and remove them for quick changes and scenes which require her ballet flats. She says it's much more comfortable and of course giving than regular ribbon when she rolls up on pointe. She is sold on the stretch ribbon and for just a dollar or so more I don't mind.

I purchased these for my daughter to try when she was having some difficulty with her Achilles tendon and not being able to totally flex/turn out etc. These look just like the satin ribbons normally sewn in pointe shoes. However, the biggest difference is in performance. They give so much more flexibility, no worry of tying correctly or coming untied during a performance and don't squeeze or pinch the Achilles tendon that's so easily injured and pulled for most ballerinas. My daughter was amazed how great they felt on and will never go back to satin even after totally healing. One box will do both shoes (a pair) Did I mention they were easy to manipulate and sew as well?!!! No burning ends either. Also buy a new box with every new pair of shoes. The elasticity feel with new shoes is unbeatable.

My daughter has her yearly ballet exam and they need ribbons sewn on. Last year I sewed the regular satin ribbons but she cried and cried because she said it was too tight, but if we didn’t tie it tight the ribbons were falling. Anyway, I decided to try this ribbon for a loop tie and it worked so well! She said they were super comfortable. I sewed these Bloch stretch satin ribbons into canvas split soles. I did 1/4 of the ribbon it came with in one shoe and 1/4 in the other. So I still have half of the package left for another pair of shoes. The loop tie was super easy to do on her foot. The ribbon didn’t hurt her, she said it felt smooth and nice.

This elastic ribbon is much thicker and sturdier than what I received when I purchased my pointe shoes in the dance store. This is my second time buying it, it’s exactly what I need! Strong, pretty, long lasting, does the job well!
