Barbie Dreamtopia Merman Doll, Approx 12-inch with Blue Rainbow Tail and Blonde Hair, for 3 to 7 Year Olds

Barbie has been released as a mermaid countless times, but before this toy, Ken was only given an official release as a merman once (to my knowledge, at least) - and sadly, that doll had almost everything that I believe can possibly ruin a doll (limited articulation, molded-on clothes, etc.). So much as I've been wanting to see a Ken merman, I took a pass on that one. Now, they release this gem, and he's exactly what I've been longing for! He has absolutely no molded on clothes whatsoever - though his tail is molded to him, much like the Dreamtopia mermaids (though that's no big deal to me, since merfolk really do have tails attached to their bodies, don't they?). He has a necklace and two wrist cuffs that can be removed too. I would've liked it if he had "real" hair instead of molded plastic hair, but I imagine they probably built him with the intention of water play, and short doll hair can be harder to manage (especially when wet), so I see why they did this. The only downside is his limited articulation. His head, shoulders (both up and down and side to side), and waist (to the front only) can move, but nothing else. I would've liked to see him have a bit more articulation in his arms and tail (much like how Finnegan Wake's doll was articulated with Monster High). Still, I'm just so excited to have an official merman Ken doll done this well that I won't consider it worth dropping a star over. On the whole, this is a very handsome and well-designed doll! I certainly hope this won't be the only Dreamtopia merman! Great work, Mattel - please keep it up!

My 2 year old son has been into mermaids since going to Vegas and seeing a mermaid performers in a fish tank. I got him the girl mermaid as well but he loves the merman beat probably cuz he sees himself in the Merman. He did loose the necklace though. As someone already said I wish it was somehow attached. But other than that, a really good toy.

The doll’s coloring is excellent; vibrant and beautiful. Also a bonus: perfect redhead colors! I used this doll for a merman cake my 3 year old niece and I made for her daddy, and I found it really easy to match other mermaid cake decorations with the colors of the tail, which was a major bonus. Ken was so sturdy in a seated position, I didn’t have to use anything to keep him upright in the cake. For reference: the top tier of my cake is 6.5” and the bottom tier is 9.6” I wish Ken’s arms were bendable, but I don’t think it takes away from the playability, just a personal preference. My blue collar, motorcycling-riding brother-in-law has now been introduced to the masculine humility that comes with being a girl dad, and my niece now has a new tubby toy. Everyone is happy, so that should be good enough to purchase your own.

My grandkids are obsessed with mermaids. Somewhere my four year old grandson must have seen a merman because he started asking for one for Christmas. I know this is just a Ken doll with a fin, but it was the only merman I could find. It also looked like a sturdy, colorful, perfect merman toy. My two-day shipping turned into two weeks, so I disappointedly did NOT get this for Chrismas, but the day AFTER Christmas. There were also some other not-so-good issues with Amazon in receiving this, but I finally got it and my grandson LOVES it. And, it is as I thought, a sturdy, colorful, perfect merman. I definitely recommend it for the little mermen in your life.

Quality is questionable and the price is high for 2016 but there is little to no mermrn and she had to have it . He is quite handsome and matches well with his Barbie friends. The tail can come off and on for cleaning. His colors are great his head is a little off with gaps on one side like other reviewers said but we will try our best to keep him in good shape. His necklace falls off easily I wish it was fixed into his neck. We use in in our pool for a mermaid show ! Overall happy because she’s happy to have a merman !

This is so cute. My daughter played with him as well as her mermaid barbies. They went in the pool and beach. But was careful to shake and remove and squeeze all water out of them. No issue of mold . Holds up great. Has cuffs that can come off and be put back on. Also has a shell necklace that is also removable. Great version of what a merman would look like lol1

Una historia de amor entre los dos protagonistas Barbie Tritón y la sirenita Barbie... fue un regalito, una sorpresa para mi hija de 4 añitos este verano. Quedó encantada con Ken sireno... El muñeco viene muy bien embalado. Tiene accesorios, dos pulseras y un collar que podría caerse con facilidad si se le quita las gomitas cruzadas de seguridad para la sujeción. Yo se lo comenté a mi niña que no se las quitara para no perder el collar, ya que las gomitas son muy finas, casi invisibles. El tamaño del muñeco es bastante grande, incluso más de lo que me esperaba... y vale perfectamente el dinero por su calidad y diseño... ¡Todo un éxito para la piscina este verano!

Les finitions sont superbes : Traits du visage, collier coquillage 🐚 , muscles ... une jolie poupée de qualité . Les garçons et les filles y trouvent leur bonheur . La queue de sirène est superbe , colorée , bien dans la veine des dreamotopia , des sirènes aux couleurs arc en ciel 🌈 Et tout ça pour moins de 11 euros , livré en 24h en prime , on dit bravo Amazon ! Nice toy. My daughter loves it. It was delivered earlier than expected.

This is one of the few male mermaids. We already have it for a year (or so). It has lived quite some time in both the bath room and outside by the pool. The toy is quite strong and the colours stay bright. Quite a musthave for the mermaid family :)
