A good overview book with collection of chapters of excellent authors
I am happy I invested in buying this book, which is more expensive than other excellent alternatives. It has a collection of important chapters written by leading authors in the field. It is a good overview book of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health for those who want to quickly update themselves in the leading discussions. I didn't give the full "I loved it" rating because it would benefit from more integration, which is left to the reader to do. It was a good book for me, as I am very familiar with the topic, so I could dive deeper in the chapters of the different authors and integrate those concepts with my previous knowledge of other authors and perspectives. It is also a good textbook for a university program, where students would analyze and integrate the concepts guided by a senior professor. Unfortunately, the work of Stanley Greenspan, one of the founding thinking leaders of this important field, is barely referenced in this book. Alicia Lieberman, another great contributor to this field is also almost absent in the book. In summary, it is a very good book that features the work of a few great authors, and models.

This is an important and useful book. By placing many leading researchers in the field of early childhood mental health together in one place, this book offers an excellent overview of this growing field. The chapters are organized in a fashion that makes the material highly accessible- offering both the major points in outline form as well as more in-depth text. A wealth of valuable material!

Highest Recommendation
I've recommended this book to all of my colleagues, and am currently exploring it chapter-by-chapter with other infant mental health colleagues. It is THE text for understanding infant mental health and the theoretical and practical underpinnings of the field. This is a must-read for any professional working with children in any capacity. It is rich with information.

I haven't finished reading it but so far it is very good. Who ever delivered the book delivered it to the wrong address, the person had the sense ring my phone number and I was able to pick it up.

Excellent!
Concise chapters yet full of critical concepts in understanding infant mental health. I am a fellow in the Napa program (which this book is based on) and reading this is recommended for those who want the Cliff Notes version of our program--yet without compromising the content. I have already ordered extra copies for the clinicians I supervise!
