Wonderful cook and author
It is easy to see why this is a much touted cook and book author. This book is very well done, would not hesitate to recommend it to everyone interested in cooking with cast iron. Service was prompt and the book was as new. Very pleased all the way around. Have something like 1400 cookbooks (including many about Cast Iron and Dutch Ovens) am happy to add this one to the collection!

Decent Book
The book had good recipes however I was expecting more old fashioned type dishes. The price was right for the product.

Gift
I already had this book for myself ....I love it , the history is amazing . I have cooked with cast iron most of my life . So to learn a bit more was wonderful . This book will teach all how to care for their cookware, so they can pass them down to their children . I bought a second book for a dear friend . She was so excited when I mailed it to her . Like me , she read the whole book cover to cover and then went back snooping and trying the different ideas that are throughout the book . Thanks for putting a smile on our faces and yummy food on our tables ! I may buy yet another one for a friend who has moved away . What a wonderful gift to give .

An Ok Cast Iron Cookbook
There are some good recipes in this book, however, not all the recipes seemed to go with cast iron cooking. There are a few photos of the finished dishes, but not all the recipes had pictures showing the final product. Instead there are full color pics (taking up a whole entire page) of some cut lemons in a glass, or color striped glasses with nothing in them. There are also some blank/filler pages indexing the beginning of a chapter. I kept thinking what a waste of space-a recipe could have been placed on those blank pages. I like my cookbooks chock full of useful recipes and illustrations showing the final prepared dish. On a final note...I did like the old style vintage ads of Wagner & Griswold cast iron scattered throughout the book. But as a recommendation...if you are looking for great cast iron recipes mixed w/stories of cast iron nostalgia pick up the Lodge Cast Iron cookbook.

The Joys of Cast Iron
Seriously, cast iron cookware is the BEST. We have enjoyed cooking in a South African Potjke pot (a Dutch oven on three long legs that is heated with wood embers out at the old fire pit!) and now my husband is anxious to create these recipes in the kitchen as well as over the embers outside. WONDERFUL tips on cast iron pot maintenance.
