Terrible questions and misrated cases.
Confusing, cumbersome questions and misrated difficulty in cases. Seriously, how many times can you ask a "which of the following are not true" question. One even had a double "not". Rewrite the questions. The other issue is in the rated difficulty. One of the questions rated hardest was ovarian torsion whereas cyclops and Siamese twins are opening round. I am tempted to raise the review to two stars, but these issues were so distracting, it was hard to finish the book. I did... but it was painful. I wish there was an alternative book. Maybe the earlier editions were better?

Needs and overhaul.
Questions immediately after a case are great, even multiple choice. Having so many questions with "except" and "not" and even some times things like "which of the following things is 'not abnormal" makes me want to throw my book into the fireplace. The images are about what you'd expect from ultrasound (meaning not that good), but what's worse is that they are very poorly labeled, which is crucial in the real world much less for a test.Additionally, the complexity of the cases is too high for the CORE in my opinion, but I will not take that away from the authors. It would be fantastic to 1.) ask the reader for a differential diagnosis, then once the true diagnosis is revealed, 2.) ask some more questions about it relating to prognosis, managment, etc, WITHOUT using terms like "not", "except", etc.I do like some of the explanation of the case after the questions, but the questions are such a turn off for me that I could not make it through the book.

Waste of time
Absolutely terrible. What a waste of time. Reasons:1-Terrible images. As a radiology book, this is unacceptable.2-No images on answer pages. Description of findings are totally generalized. For an example, Case 110. "Granulosa-stromal cell tumors and thecomas (Figures A to C) for the presented case of a thecaoma-fibroma and a secondary case of thecoma produce estrogen and can result in endometrial hyperplasia or endometrial cancer. How is this description of findings???This book will not prepare you for the new core format.

Where is the eBook Kindle Version?
I am disappointed it is not available. I don't understand why they publish just the paperback and not the electronic version.

Excellent
The contents are well selected. Excellent cases and explanations. May be more gynaecology cases are required.Recommended for board exam.

Glossy Images. Obscure Questions.
This book is a case study based text which provides multiple choice questions for the reader based on the images provided. The answers are also provided upon the following pages with some fantastic supporting information to help you along if you were unsuccessful with the questions. Sounds great? Absolutely. At first glance this book is fantastic. Hundreds of glossy images, large enough to assess without needing a magnifying glass as with other textbooks, and a great way to test your knowledge before exams or as a bit of self development. However, this book is largely flawed.Given this book is sold as an Obstetrics AND Gynaecological ultrasound text I was baffled to discover only a handful of Gynaecology related questions. I think I counted two uterus images. This isn't to say that the questions have no relevance to gynaecology, of course they do, but they largely do not test the readers knowledge of any common gynaecological conditions. Most sonographers will be familiar with conditions such as hyperplasia, endometriomas, dermoid cysts and the like. None of these common pathologies are within this text. In fact, the questions largely feature obscure, once-in-a-career pathologies and anomalies which the average reader probably won't benefit from seeing in a revision/case study text. The obstetrics images are largely very good, with relevant questions. However, some of the questions asked are terribly worded and rather ambiguous - this doesn't test your knowledge, but rather your patience trying to determine what the authors were even getting at!For the more advanced practitioner, this will still provide some interesting information. As previously mentioned, the more obscure pathologies are well presented within this text despite unusual questions. The supporting information and accompanying images are helpful for familiarising yourself with rare conditions.Overall, a disappointing textbook which will be wasted on the everyday student or operator looking for some self assessment. For the more advanced practitioner, perhaps a useful case study/interesting cases reference text but the question based format is often too ambiguous and confusing to be of any use.

ottimo strumento di autoverifica e studio
Bel testo per verificare le proprie conoscenze soprattutto per chi non lavora in un II livello e si trova raramente di fronte a casi complessi. Molto divertente. Da divorare!
