Probably great if you are the top boss
I was recently promoted to be a middle manager in a very male-centric but not necessarily a traditional "office" environment (News editor at a mid-sized daily) and was hoping to get some great pointers on being a strong leader without being a bitch or having to rely of feminine cuteness or coyness (no one is going to consider me a sex-boot, more likely a little sister, and I'm not politicial or cunning.) This book assumed I have a lot more power to make decisions about company policy than I do -- including using money or promotions as a way to motivate people. I wish it was that easy in this economy -- no one at our paper has had a raise in 6 years and there are no promotions to give. It did help re-enforce a few things I was already figuring out for myself -- friendships change, communication and clear expectations are important and leading by example can be very powerful. On the whole, I think these authors are working in an environment that doesn't reflect anything I've ever seen and I don't really know any one else who could relate either.

Great, universal book!
I don't even work in the corporate world, I work at a state park. The vast majority of the examples and information still applied to me, although a small percentage did not. That's the great part about this book, that the messages and thoughts are all universal, applying to many different realms. I've read a few of the reviews posted by others and I would have to say that I don't see the book as feminist by any means. There was a thought or two that I may not have agreed with, but the book, overall was great!

Very informative and easy to read
I absolutely loved this book! I have bookmarks on at least every 5 pages that I plan to go back and reference. This book is very practical and uses real life examples in so many job fields. There has not been one chapter that bored me. It was written very very well and I plan to read the whole thing again very soon!

Used not new
Bought the book NEW but it is definitely USED because it has coffee stains and other gunk on it. The original owner used it as a cup holder.

Love it!
This book is insightful without being preachy. The cover and title make it seem as if the content is based on humor, but it really provides some great, realistic tips for those of us who are new to management roles. I would recommend this book to both new and experienced managers.
