I didn't know it when I bought 2 of these from Amazon that these where the exact one's I wanted. I have a set of 2 that I've bought about 20 years ago when I was still working as a auto tech. They are still working light brand new. Working on a project that I needed 2 extra. These are great. I was upset with myself that I didn't read that these didn't come with the hook and rope. no problem I forgave myself. I have 1/4 poly rope on a reel so I'm able to make use of then. I looked on the store site and they offer complete so I ordered 2 more complete with rope and hook. I can always use the extra. I didn't return because I didn't read everything my bad. This is a very good product that will last for many years. Thank you very much.

This is a great item for anyone who has a boat cover installed. I am sure there are other uses but it serves me well. I did purchase another one for a second boat.

Good holding power. I bought this 1/4" ratchet to replace a similar broken ratchet on my boat cover. Super-easy replacement and the ratchet is audible and solid. Release lever is easy to operate and protected to prevent 'unintentional releases.' I will definentaly buy this ratchet again if my other ratchet breaks.

The rope ratchet is an excellent tie down. I use it for my boat mooring cover, ratcheting the rope to cinch it just below the rub rail. It makes for a very tight fit. Excellent performance. The only drawback is that in the marine environment, I have to replace it every couple of years due to corrosion inside the ratchet mechanism. It still looks good, but the ratchet wheel starts to stick. Still, it's a great product and I just keep a couple spares handy.

Second one I ordered to secure a rope holding a boat cover in place.

I don't usually review out of the box, but I'm a little confused that the instructions for this show two hooks, one for each end of the rope that you supply yourself. As it appears that the ad clearly doesn't show a 2nd hook, the instructions show a 2nd identical steel hook. I guess just state that the 2nd hook isn't included either?

Works great but make sure you get the right rope diameter size

Every person who is challenged when it comes to tying effective and releasable knots should have these. To be REALLY effective, combine them with 1/4" yacht rope.

well built and sturdy. used to hold down a heavy duty toolbox outdoors. so far no problem, even in high wind conditions. am using with 3/4 inch diamond braided polyester rope. very pleased and will purchase more as needed.
