I think the way the instructions are given on the packet a big hype is created and the reality does not live up to the expectations. If you just stir in the masala onto boiled chane and eat it just straight away, the taste is of uncooked masalas. It improves if you heat desi ghee to a good temperature and pour it over the masala in the pot before stirring it into the chole. This takes care of the raw masala taste. Another way is to cook chole the regular way and then add this masala instead of the masalas you usually use. Either way there is no special reason one would buy this unless one is a student or someone who doesn’t know much cooking or doesn’t want the hassle of cooking. This is a poor approximation of Amritsari chole. I should know, I am from Amritsar.

Too salty
Good masala, but there is too much salt. I did not put additional salt in the dish. If salt content can be reduced, this is one of the best masalas out there.
