A Solid Contender Against Bose And A Great Value
First this is an honest review from a regular old everyday guy. No one paid me or gave me free headphones. Period. I tested the Skullcandy Venue headphones side by side against the Bose QuietComfort 35 II headphones. Here are my impressions: Sound Quality. Much to my surprise I actually found the Venue's to sound better than the Bose', at least to my ear. The Venue's have a much rounder and more full tone and comparatively the Bose sounded a little thin so I give the edge to Venue on this one. Noise Cancelling. This one was close, again much to my surprise. Both headsets were able to do a good job rejecting outside noise. Although the Venue's had a very slight white noise with ANC on and no music playing but not enough to put me off. However the Bose' have an additional feature of a high and low ANC setting which could be useful depending on the environment that you are using then in. Slight advantage Bose on this one. Comfort. The weight of both headphones are within 4/100 of a Lb. (yes I weighed them) so weight is not an issue. The Venue headphones fit a little tighter and snugger around the ear which makes for a good seal but might be a little less comfortable during periods of long use or if you have a large head. On the other hand the Bose are just the opposite they have more head strap room than anyone could ever use and the cans are much bigger than the average ear. This provides some short term comfort but if you move your head quickly they can actually move around on your head. I'm calling this one a tie because this is just personal preference. Build Quality. First Impression is that Bose has a higher quality. Theirs include some metal alloy where the Venue's are almost completely plastic. I found the Venue's to be sturdy feeling and was not put off by the look or feel. I have to give the advantage to Bose here. User Experience. Bose includes no user manual in the packaging and basically requires you to download and install their proprietary app in order to set up and learn how to use their headphones. This offers the benefit of assigning a virtual assistant to a button. This is helpful if you use Alexa or Google but not if you use Siri because it comes pre-assigned. I found the app an unnecessary hassle with little benefit. Venue's on the other hand come with easy instructions and clear easy to use function buttons. Advantage Venue on this one. Value. In the end, nether of these headphones blew the other away in anything but price. So this one was a no brainer for me. These are both high quality headphones. The differences are much less than I expected and many of them will come down to personal preference. If cost is not a number one concern and you listen more to podcasts than music I can see how you might choose the Bose. I have other Bose products currently and the quality is generally very good but I cannot say that I ever felt that the price point was commensurate with the value of the product. Considering the quality I am finding in the Venue's and at 1/2 the price of the Bose, for me it's an easy decision. I am picking the Venue's. Your mileage my vary.

PERFECT for audio, w/ or w/o Bluetooth! EXCELLENT noise canceling and AWESOME value!! FIT AMAZING!
Excellent product! I have never had any problems, I bought them before cuz I dropped them and broke them, not because they're fragile but because of me being careless, lol, but they sound AMAZING for playing guitar, general noise cancelation, the whole nine yards!! They could be the most obnoxious color on earth and I'd buy them (again) Only failures I've had, are from being EXTREMELY rough on them (and I mean way careless, lol..and they STILL lasted over a year...if you take care of them, they will last god know how long.. even ones I've broken still work great!) ..oh and you can buy replacement pads for them if you want! ...but the value mixed with the comfort, sound quality, ergonomics, etc. etc. (and I've NEVER had a problem with them connecting to Bluetooth) is WORTH EVERY PENNY...whether you pay the regular price or get a good deal...or if you are playing music or an instrument through them. AWESOME (and beats paying HUNDREDS for BOSE. Definitely recommend!!

Really good but not amazing
I've worked in audio production for about a decade now, and while I never use headphones for audio work, I do have an experienced ear. These headphones sound pretty good with all genres of music. Compared to Bose, they are very close in clarity - but the Venue has more bass. And by more bass, I really just mean that they render the bass exactly the way it was mixed and should sound. With active noise cancelling (ANC) on, the audio quality takes a slight dip, but it still sounds great. They are light weight and very comfortable. The build quality is pretty solid. As far as the ANC, it works well. It won't cut out conversations or noise completely, but it does thin them out to the extent that outside noise won't be too distracting. With ANC on the volume takes a bit of a dip. I experienced no noise or buzzing issues what-so-ever with ANC on. I expected a bit more noise cancellation but for this price range, I would say they are about right. The $370 Bose headphones have amazing ANC but I can't justify spending that much on a pair of headphones. The headphones come with a nice firm carrying case, aux cable, and USB charging cord. The headphone buttons are pretty straight forward and you will get a handle on them after a few minutes. The battery life has been great. Update: The more I listen to these the more I like them. The ANC is actually really good and the sound quality continues to surprise me – really detailed audio.

Mic was never great -too low level to be used outside-. Slight buzzing on Bluetooth in one ear side after a year. Was heavily used for 2 years by teenager and still works very well. I replaced the ear cushions after 2/3 years years, they were peeling.

This headset has been better than expected. Great sound quality and noise cancelation too. When I'm talking to someone they can't hear any background noise. Its super easy to pair with both my phone and laptop and I can easily go into other rooms with no signal issues. Also super comfortable! I wear glasses and usually headphones start to hurt after a while but these are very cushioned.
