I love this compilation of Billie Holiday gems.Holiday pleases in this one. It has a lot of her earlier works, when her voice was young, fresh, and as-yet undamaged.While I can honestly appreciate her, "Lady in Satin" days, this collection showcases what Lady Day's voice initially did to my heart.She had a small vocal range, but she could wring emotion out of the voice that she had.There were other popular singers in her time who were considered vocal virtuosos, because of the range and flexibilities of their voices, but Billie just flat-foot sings! She does not rely on melisma or clever, ornamental runs to get an idea across.The Decca recordings is one of my favorite Billie Holiday collections, by far!

I feel lucky indeed to own this collection. The recordings are amazing as always when it comes to the irreplaceable Lady Day but here we are given several versions of certain tracks, tracing her development of the arrangements. A treasure for the Billie Holiday devotee. Don't miss this collection !

I had bought this set years ago and either lost it or loaned it out and did not get it back. I missed this great music so much that when I found it on Amazon, I had to order it.

This item arrived in pristine condition. I was happy to replace this CD Set in my collection. When my ex-fiancee' threw me out for a woman #30 years his junior he kept this CD Set. See you do not always remember everything !

I like Ms. Holiday and the way the album is presented. I'm enjoying it.

EXCELLENT RECORDINGS AND QUALITY OF THE TRACKS. I HAD NEVER IMAGINED LISTENING TO BILLIE SINGING TOGETHER WITH LOUIS ARMSTRONG. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!

Por fin una grabación remasterizada de alto nivel. Los seguidores de la cantante agradecemos este tipo de trabajos, puesto que es muy difícil encontrar grabaciones de calidad de los trabajos de "lady day". También hay dos sorpresas dentro de este box, dos temas grabados junto a Louis Amstrong realmente preciosos.

Billie Holiday es una exepcional cantante de blues/jazz y este cd es una prueba de ello. Acompaña por cuerdas y una orquesta inigualable. Se merece un 10 por su trascendencia en el jazz y por fuerza como cante y vida !!!
