Q: How many sachets you have to use to make a liter of yogurt ?

I actually use 1/2 a teaspoon (about 2 grams) to make a 1/2 gallon (about 2 liters) of yogurt in one container. I add a small amount of milk, then mix in the starter thoroughly, then add the rest of the milk. Heat the milk at 112 for 12 hours. I never use yogurt from a previous batch (which carries forward and multiplies possible unwanted culture). I always use whole, organic, regular pasteurized (not super pasteurized) milk that has just been bought and just been opened (the freshest possible) to limit any unwanted bacteria that might compete. Never had a bad batch. Love this yogurt. Has a nice tart flavor (I like the stronger yogurts).

2 packets of 5 gems each 1 packet for 42 oz of milk

Q: Do you add jam, honey, or fresh fruits to the bottom of the jars, and is there enough space in the jars to do so?

You can use any jars you like, add stuff in or not, but one sachet works with a quart of milk.

Q: Hi - I see there is 5 grams of sugar in the starter packet. Can you tell me if the fermentation process eats this up or is there lots left at the end?

I think that the sugar is broken down in the process. The best way that I have found is to use some of the last batch of yogurt as the starter.
