Britten - War Requiem, Op. 66: The Masterworks Library (Boosey & Hawkes Masterworks Library)

I've known this work for years and performed it once. Looking to re-live the performance in my mind, I decided to buy the score. As with most musical experiences, reading along with the score enhances the musical experience. For visual learners, the effect is riveting with this 20th century masterpiece.The B&H version is of sufficient size that I did not experience any eye strain. Very well made. Looking forward to other scores in this series.

There is nothing I can say that will add to what has been said about the War Requiem by people many times more intelligent than myself in the past. If you want a in depth review of the work look for reviews by professional reviewers!In my opinion this is one of the best choral works ever composed and possibly THE best choral work of the 20th century.This is a great full score, too!

I did my thesis in musicology on Performance Interpretation, and I really loved to focus on this piece in particular. Benjamin Britten is my favorite composer, so of course, I received this for Christmas one year. It is a full score, the full instrumentation. The print is a little small, even though the score is massive, if that matters.It does feature a brief introduction, followed by the text used in the piece appearing on its own, the poetry of Wilfred Owen and the Latin Requiem text, then the actual score itself.Whether you want it for conducting, academic reasons, or because you’re a nerd, it’s a good score for an incredible piece.

It was for my son and he was extremely happy with it. He likes that it has the orchestra, solos, and choir music together. The print may be small, but he's young and doesn't mind.

It's a Boosey and Hawkes score. It's a clean, legible layout.

Great composition. Heard a performance and wanted to see how it might have been done. Nice to get a true full score in something more than note size however.

Nachdem ich eine DVD des Werkes geschenkt bekommen habe, habe ich mir diese Partitur zugelegt. Ich konnte keine andere (größer geschriebene) im Internet zum Kauf finden.Zum Verfolgen einer Aufnahme oder Aufführung ist sie geeignet, als Einstudierungspartitur leider das reinste "Augenpulver". Vielleicht weiss jemand, ob es eine "richtige" Dirigierpartitur gibt?
